Just my dumb ass 2 cent and clearly I dont want to piss off anyone at HorsePlayer Mag, because they have industry clout.
But WTF, this contest is another example of the "I GOT ICE CREAM AND YOU CANT AFFORD IT YOU CANT AFFORD IT , YOU CANT AFFORD IT"
KUDOS TO SCOTT CARSON AND THE PEEPS AT PUBLIC HANDICAPPER WHO KNOW HOW TO TREAT THE PLAYERS. YES THEY MESSED UP BY NOT OFFERING NHC SPOTS TO THE PLAYERS, BUT THEY
LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAID MY BAD AND ARE BACK ON BOARD.
UNLIKE OTHER SITES THAT CHARGE $400 OR MORE FOR A SPOT AND DONT GIVE PRIZE $$ OR COMP
I PITY ALL THE PLAYERS THAT HAVE NOT QUALIFIED, BECAUSE THE WATERS ARE SO MURKY IT IS NOT EVEN FUNNY.,
WHERE IS TWS LEADERBOARD ? IS THERE GOING TO BE A BVQE ? ARE THERE GOING TO BE MORE
CHANGES LIKE NHCQUALIFY.COM
OH WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE $100 QUALIFIERS , BUT NOW WE HAVE CHANGED OUR MINDS BASED ON ????????????????????????????????????
OH WAS DAT IN THE SURVEY ??????? I KNOW BITCH BITCH BITCH. BUT WHERE WAS THE
PLAYERS COMMITTEE WHEN THIS WAS ALLOWED, NOT TO MENTION THEY PAID TO PLAY IN THIS
CONTEST. THERE IS NOT A CONTEST ON THIS PLANET THAT GOUGES THE PLAYER MORE THEN
NHCQUALIFY.COM. 200 ENTRIES X $400 = $80K FOR 8 SPOTS = $24K WHERE DOES $56K GO
HOW CAN ANYONE ON THE COMMITTEE PLAY IN THIS CONTEST AND EXPECT ANYONE THAT IS NOT
MADE OF $$$$$$$$$$$ TO TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE THE $56K WENT ?????????// THAT IS THE $56K ?

Spike,
I can assure you, the Players Committee is currently addressing your concerns as I type this. I do want you to keep this in mind: we are an advisory board to the NTRA. We hold a voice for all Tour Players. We hold NO authority what so ever. The NTRA can either listen to us or turn a deaf ear. I am not saying they are turning a deaf ear, but many of your concerns have been and continue to be brought ahead of our contact people with the NTRA. If we had the power that some of the Players wish or think we had, things would be different.
One thing I would like to see is MORE Tour members voicing their opinion and thoughts on these subjects. Send emails. Call up the NTRA voicing concern. Post on public boards. When NHCQualify.com removed the $100 contests and replaced them with $400 entry events, there was but a whimper heard at the NTRA. And do you know who the majority of the concern came from? The Players Committee!!!
And the people from the Committee who played in last week's contest were the ones who had already bought in before the changes were made. I wonder whether you will see them playing again based on the conversations we have had over the past week and a half.
BOL and thanks for your feedback! We need to hear from all tournament players and Tour members!!

Spike, I tend to agree with the main premiss,.... that this is starting to slant toward a big hitters game. Keeneland recently offered a $3000 to-get-in tournament for only 36 players. I didn't think anyone would be interested.....Wrong!
It filled quickly and is now closed. It doesn't start until 4/18.
I'm wrong again.
I taught HC for a number of years with the idea that handicapping can be a fun game that anyone and everyone can participate. I stress the idea of $1 wagering, eating hot dogs, and having a great time at the track. This evidently is not a popular way to go.
Well I will be looking forward to seeing BillW, TomS and all the others at our usual table at Keeneland. 1$ wagers, hot dogs and Bourbon bread pudding are high on my list. :)
We have fun without going to the fourth floor.

boo hoo. boo hoo.
This just in. No horse owner will ever have to pay nomination or entry fees. No race tracks will ever have conditioned races. No races will be solely for state bred runners. And all races will be open to 2 year olds and up.
From now on all races will be labeled 2+ ALWNC.

65% of the money collected by NHCQUALIFY goes directly into the NHC PURSE. The other 35% goes to the company that owns NHCQUALIFY (it is not owned by the NTRA). That 35% is theirs for operational costs and profit. It is written in their contract with the NTRA. NHCQUALIFY is the reason the NHC has a million dollar purse (of course that money comes directly from the diehard tournament degenerates that play in the contests, present company included).
It's so funny how you complain about this company and you make it absolutely clear to everyone on numerous occasions that YOU'VE ALREADY QUALIFIED but you would be the first person in line to sign up for one of their contests. Oh yeah, and how did you already qualify? Oh yeah, that's right through that NHCTOUR thing that is so skewed to favor "BLUE BLOODS" that a guy of your means couldnt possibly be competitive in. I cant wait until next year when you havent qualified and you're buying up 2 entries in every NHCQualify. My kids need to see a living example of the word "HYPOCRITE" as if what goes on in D.C. isnt already enough.

You guys are funny, and the devil in us likes to read your food fight.
But i thought we were going to be cool on here.
Mayo told me they would put up a new NHC bbs. Donnie, are you working on it? No censorship or editing, right? Let the class wars begin - over there.

When the class wars start, which class am I going to be in. I know I have no blue blood running through my veins. Always thought a I was a blue collar guy. Down in the trenches busting my but to make a living. Noone ever handed me a thing. Some how I've been lumped into the BLUE BLOODS because I have CONFIDENCE to play in high dollar entry fee tournaments. And when I drink tea, I dont hold my pinky out either. And I don't always drink beer but when I do, I drink DOS EQUIS. That's 2 X's for you none Meshcans.
Peace out. All in fun my friends. All in fun.
Just to stir the pot, I was going to come on here and complain that the HorsePlayer tournament was too exclusive because I couldnt play in it (Texas residents cannot have Xpressbet accounts) then SPIKE beat me to the PUNCH
Always fun to get a dose of SPIKED PUNCH.

Ken--
Re: website = The first thing I noticed when I joined the Committee was that it was extremely difficult to keep track of communications because we were using email. Can you imagine 13 people trying to "reply to all" while trying to discuss different topics. I immediately bought a domain name and webhosting and set up a website. I bought a license for the latest version of vBulletin (same thing used here and at PaceAdvantage) and set up membership to all 13 members and 2 NTRA employees. So the inner communication piece is in place and going pretty smooth.
Mike split the 12 other members into groups of 3 and gave each group main topics to address. Judy Wagner, Chris Larmey and myself are on the Media/Player Relations sub-committee. I would love to put together another website for the Players, because I think we need a cleaner, consistent channel for communication with the Tour Members. However, considering we don't have a budget to draw from, I don't know how soon that is going to happen.
For now, I can be reached at don@playerscomm.com. I would love to hear from anyone on the Tour considering concerns, questions, ideas, suggestions or even complaints. I would imagine Judy, Chris and myself will be at times the "face" of the Players Committee. That is why I felt it appropriate to respond to Spike here.
Hopefully I will be able to post here if/when The Tour Member's website becomes a reality. I envision a discussion board atmosphere as well. I believe that the NTRA is revamping their website and I would hope that if we as the Players Committee don't have the means to get this done, the NTRA will create what I believe is a crucial piece for the success in the growth of the Tour.

Donnie,
I knew you would be a better person for the job. Great idea for the website. I love the picture on the homepage. It captures the true essence of the direction of where our beloved sport is heading.

Damned you are a FREAK Dennis! That's EXACTLY why I picked that picture...it should remind us everytime we log in who the focus of that committee should be. Empty stands are becoming more and more a reality at some tracks....wouldn't it be VERY scary to see that at Keeneland??

And about your comment of me being a better person for the job...HOGWASH!! You bring a unique perspective that many horseplayers do not have. You are fulltime earning a living; I am parttime earning a nickel every once in a while. We are actually polar opposites as to our approach, but we share a similar train of thought.

Donnie, your comments made my day. Freak is a word thrown around in my home on a daily basis.
Keep up the great work.
