Hello all,
The HTR File Rat is being upgraded so please post all bugs and suggestions. Think of something wild and crazy this time and make me work. I would like to get this done well in advance of the July 28th 2010 HTR Seminar.
I hope everyone has been doing well and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again at the Seminar. Congratulations to all the HTR members that did well in the HPWS! Nice job and I hope to be sitting with you guys someday.

Hey Hey Johnny!! Can't you come out, can't you come out to play?
We GOTTA get some time straightened out this trip to Part-ta! I'm bringing some heavy backup this go-round....my 21 yr old son will be joining me on this trip. Suze, alas, will be sitting this trip out. Sounds like T-R-O-U-B-L-E! (his first trip to Vegas)

I would like to see an additional like that I could check so I could download yesterdays results and charts while I download todays races and trainer files.
That way I don't have to redownload yesterdays races.
Right now I download results and charts. Then I change the dates and download the next days races.
This is one of those things that will help some people but since I am doing the HTRM the night before it won't help me right now. :D

I don't know if this is possible but I would like to have the opportunity to have two rats on my computer at the same time. That way I could have two sets of rules and not have to change the rules to suit the download I am looking for. Rick's suggestion is just one example of a need for two non-conflicting rats. By adding the ability for two versions of the program other possibilities could also be accommodated.

I would like to have the option for 2 sets of favorites.
favorites 1 and favorites 2.
I would also like to be able to manually check tracks and then download only the the selected tracks
As of now I can only download all tracks or the favorites.
Thanks for asking:)

Is there a way you could add a function in File Rat that would allow us to delete files, charts, whatever?

Would it be possible to delete pertinant files older than 364 days before downloading current races with the File Rat. A simple one step procedure appears to be a desirable feature.

Good suggestions everyone. Please keep them coming.
dehere: Are you talking about a "profile" function that stores several different download setups? Something like a control panel where you can contstruct and set 1 to ? profiles to run during a download session? A profile being a group of settings (track, type of files, dates). Perhaps a "profile" can bet set in relation to another particular profile date. Ex: Profile #2 runs with a date one day earlier than profile #5.
This is going to be a major upgrade so I would like to see everyone get what they want on this one. (if possible). A lot of the guts is being re-programmed in preparation of things to come.
I'm starting to think about having two modes of functionality. A standard mode for beginners that shows only the capabilities that was in v1.52 and a advanced mode that makes all the features available.

John - I'm not sure if that is what I am referring to. I'll try to use an example to show what I mean.
I primarily use the HTR File Rat to download historic files for use in exporting into Access. For this I want to download all tracks and I have set my download paths so that the "Racefile + Trainer Stats" and the "Results + Charts" go to my "1-week" folder and the Comma Delimited Charts go to a separate Charts folder. I then copy every thing in the "1-week" folder to my monthly and annual folders in a separate step.
Okay, it would be nice if I could also use HTR Rat to download today's files - which would be only the Racefiles + Trainer Stats files and they would need to go into my "Daily" folder.
The problem is that to do that now I have to change all of the settings in HTR Rat to perform the daily function and then change them back the next time I download a week's worth of files or so for my Access work. It would be nice if I could simply have two HTR Rat programs with two different settings that enabled me to not have to change settings back and forth each time.
Its not really that big a deal and I won't be bothered all that much if the change is not made. Its just something on the wish list.
I hope that helps you understand what I was talking about.

In Henry's line of thought, what would be nice would be a Daily Tab with the daily settings and one save path and a Monthly Tab with it's settings and a different save path.

dehere: I think I can do that for you. I'll implement the profile features for this upgrade. One way or another we'll get somthing set up for you Henry. Keep after me to get it working exactly how you want, l don't mind at all.
This upgrade is also implementing other file management capabilities. I plan to have the HTR File Rat unzip all the HTR files after downloading. While downloading, it will unzip and automatically manage all files in the HTR folder keeping all files less than a year old and moving the older files to a preselected folder.
This will hopefully solve any problems with files being over a year old in the HTR directory.

Hi John,
Thanks for the great tool. I do seem to have a prob trying to use the autom feature, tho.
Im trying to select 1pm, because here in HI that is a good time to download tomorrow... it apparently doesnt work for some odd reason. I presume that it is using my sys clock. There is no suspend going on, or sleep mode.
Any help?

Hi,
Well gollygeewiz, I think I might be the odd reason. There are some bugs in the automation feature and during the upgrade/rewrite those bugs will be fixed. Thanks for your patience.
