After no problems for a number of yrs, approximately a month ago the lack of clarity of the print was such that it became difficult to read the documents I opened using Adobe 8. I thought it might be because there was a new version, which turned out to be the case, and after I downloaded the latest version, the documents were actually easier to read. Two weeks or so go by, and now when I open documents they are difficult to read again. I tried downloading Adobe 9 again, but that didn't do the trick, and at this point I don't have a remote idea what to even try to remedy the problem.

Thanks in advance for any and all help anyone can provide.

I have never had that problem.

What I would do is uninstall, reboot and try reinstalling.

I would check the printer settings. You may have accidentally put the printer into "draft" mode.

Jim: I appreciate your suggestion, although it shows I didn't do a very good job of explaining the problem, which only involved reading Adobe documents opened on the computer. No matter how bad they looked on the screen, the printed version was always fine.

In any event, Rick's suggestion did the trick, so everything's back to "normal", at least until I get another message which has something to do with using "assistive" or "assistant" technology to read documents, as the problem seems to have arisen after I did whatever I did the last time I got the message. The next time the message appears I'm planning on making sure I understand what they're talking about before I check any of the boxes.

I could probably list the hundred or so equally dumb computer questions I have pending, but for now I think it's best if I end this with: Thanks once again Rick.

Mel, you have probably already tried this but, if not, the next time you are in Adobe hit your "control L" keys. That will take you to full screen mode with Adobe. You can move from page to page using either the arrow keys, the up and down keys or simply the enter key - the mouse works pretty well too. To get out of it just hit the "control L" keys again.

You definitely hit an option and re-installing everything is a sort of "grenade" solution, but whatever works.

Adobe has an Accessibilty Setup Assistant. My guess is you activated it somehow. Having done that, your documents were "looking bad". And in this case, bad is not good.

If you want a techie way to fix this.

Go to Preferences and choose Page Display, under rendering you will see a drop down for Smooth Text, choose Laptop/LCD. Check all of the other boxes.

That should get you back to where you started if this happens again. It may not have been something you did, it may have just been an Adobe update you downloaded.

Glad to hear you are doing well, so hopefull you don't have to try the above.
