The upgraded HTR2 software, Jan 2009 version, has a key revision to the seldom used FULL CARD screen.

I engineered this for our tournament finalists, but it will serve you well every day to look at it before you analyze today's races as it is an excellent primer to begin the process of handicapping and remove the anxiety about dealing with a complicated card.

The Full Card screen update is briefly mentioned in the Jan 2009 newsletter (you'll get in the next 48 hours) You'll need the new version to see what i'm talking about below, and it should be available by Wednesday or Thursday. The FULL CARD large button is located on the bottom left of the HTR main screen.

The new item is an interesting and rather powerful new feature to this screen that required I write a separate 'white paper' for. It is a "Chalk Evaluator". You can get this PDF in the subscriber zone after Rick posts the software updates.

While it looks simple, with just two columns: FAV1, FAV2, it uses a very sophisticated algorithm and it may transform the way you preview an entire card the day before, or even after the scratches. Tournament players will love it because it will shorten the time needed to evaluate the day's action and find the best spots - a head start if you will.

Not only is Ken providing us with a major upgrade for the Robot but in his "spare time" it sounds like he's made a significant advance in dealing with the chalk. Would one of our Catholic friends please post the procedure for nominating someone to Sainthood? :D

Nice! :)

I can’t think of a player this wouldn’t help.

Such an underrated aspect to have an organized game plan pre race one. True story and I won’t say how I was betting as a teenager in case the statute of limitations hasn’t run out. :D

Monmouth Park around 1975 or so. LOVED a horse in the 7th and only brought so much cash with me. Do I have to tell you I tapped out before the 6th and flew home on my bicycle (I only lived 10 minutes away by car, but I knew every short cut). I thought I made real good time only to get there as the 7th went official to see $27.40 on the board.

Needless to say; lesson learned and the image of that tote board is burned into my memory forever. :o

I love game plans!
Please send one to Tampa Tomcat!

We have a local professional football team that is peddling home at half time and getting lost on the way back!

The coach looks really frustrated, Dan. It's one thing to have a game plan and another to
follow and use it. That means the prima donnas and the millionaires. They are more interested
in their own game plans than the team game plans.
I have known 2 former pro coaches who would tell you the most difficult part of the pro
games is trying to get these guys to follow the plan. Most coaches would tell you they really
liked college and even high school coaching to deal with pro players, their contracts, their agents, and
their attitudes.

When the 49er coach chased that guy off the field and sent him to the locker room, I was cheering. I hope he gets Coach of the Year.

You’re so right TC;

I think the problem is magnified even more in baseball where most contracts are air-tight guaranteed. In horse racing our athletes never ask to renegotiate.

Ken
The new full card screen and chalk evaluator should be very helpful, especially for tournament play. In attempting to find out how scratches might affect the Fav1 and Fav2 designations I discovered that the #H designation does not change when horses are scratched. VI, FAV1 and FAV2 designations appear to change as appropriate.

Righto Gary, the #H does not change, it retains the orginal number of entrants

I'll get that fixed - thanks
