Merry Christmas everyone!

Sometimes it’s good to look at the basic race groupings of each track so we can form a game plan for the New Year. Going over 2008 you will find some strengths and weaknesses in your game and it can be helpful to fit your edge to a particular circuit. (Assuming you can bet it of course! )

If you struggle with 2yo’s for example and you know going in Calder cards 27% babies…you may want to skip that circuit; especially if you’re a pick-x player who will run into juveniles more often then not.

1st table is just basic class sums, age and are self explanatory. (Last 365 days where used, minus the last couple and these are the percentage of total races in each field.)

• The “R-FLD” is the rank of average field size as compared to all other tracks (#1 being the largest avg).
• The “NW2L, 3L,” etc are condition claiming races that along with State breds should be a subset in your wagering ledger imo.
• The “STK” column is all races with a purse of 75k and up.
• Min_$: is the minimum purse the track carded for the year.

Next we have basic dist / surf stuff. Obviously the ‘wet category can fluctuate greatly from year to year. Also; VI %’s in the same ranges the Robot uses / % of Chaos races and Hyper favorites. BTW: There is a little known one on the end that is not publicized often and that is # of “fixed” races. I could tell you how I got this data, but then I would have to ‘whack ya and that’s not keeping with the Christmas spirit! ;) (Just kidding if anyone from Boston’s north end is reading :D )

Dist / Surf codes are as follows…

• FS: Fast Sprint
• FR: Fast Route
• TS: Turf Sprint
• TR: Turf Route
• AS: Artf Sprint
• AR: Artf Route
• WS: Wet Sprint
• WR: Wet Route

I would think a copy and paste into excel for easy sorting might be the ticket if anyone’s interested in creating a road map for 2009. This can also aid Robot research in targeting certain groupings.

Time to pack for some college mayhem that I’m getting too old for; :o if I miss you guys before Dick Clark welcomes in the New Year I would like to thank all of you for giving so much in ‘08…Enjoy your holidays and may 2009 be healthy and prosperous for the entire HTR family.
