Ok, sounds good to me. I don't have a preference in tracks either. Scrappy seconds never botherd me. As you volunteer, pick your tracks of preference.
Contest Tracks:
1) Arlington
2) Belmont
3) Calder
4) Keeneland
5) Louisiana Downs
6) Retama -- Deadline is 7:00pm Eastern
7) Santa Anita
8) Woodbine
Deadline for selections to be posted is 12:00pm Eastern (plus or minus 10 minutes to account board clock differences). The one exception is for Retama, where the deadline will be 7:00pm Eastern Time

Mt. Ken e-mailed and recruited me, so I am a go.
Been doing sports boards lately, but will be glad to pick any track(s) you would like me to Glen, the cheaper the better.......

Welcome back Long Lost Carl. 4 more players needed. No need to fear making bad picks. 50% chance I will 0'fer the 1st week. Just all for good fun...
George

Glen......if perchance you end up short a player I will give it a shot. Put anybody else that wants in ahead of me. Track don't matter as I am zigging instead of zagging about equal at all tracks.

Glen,
I'll have to pass and concentrate on the Bris contest this weekend. BC the weekend after that. Maybe the 3rd or 4th week if you are really desperate for someone to fill in. Thanks for the invite.

I usually can't come up with enough plays to fill a card, but am willing to try to help if I can - maybe teaming up with someone?
Glen

Cliff, WE ARE DESPARATE!!!! 3rd/4th week is cool. BTW, you can take Belmont on week 2 if you like that way you don't have to do any extra work. Best of luck w/ BRIS!
MtKen, Plush Pickins!!! BEL is yours.
Bernie...your in...Pick a track and play.
Still need more players....This is an event that only happens once a year...An excellent opportunity to get excited about no frills handicapping contest...
BTW, if you guys don't mind, I'll take Retama...Not because I know anything about it, but because I kinda have guest over Friday and won't be able to handicap that night. In matter of fact, it is the only track on the list that I haven't played in over 2 years....Tx residents can't bet on Tx tracks unless we go to the track. Stupid!

Well we have 4 active duty troops and 4 reservists. Any other active volunteers? Any breathing soul with Internet access and ability to post 5 selections by 1200 PM Eastern time will work. Where's Hurrikane, Tbrown, Canuck when we need em? Well, if we can't get 8 then might have to instill a draft or surrender with white flag in hand. So far the competition will consist of the PA Board, DRF Board and Hottalkers Board.

Ok Glen, Sign me up for a full-time slot on your team! But remind me EVERY week it is ROI, not number of winners!! Feel free to assign me any track they come up with; I play all tracks equally poorly!
Now maybe I can get back to bed and get some sleep....all this worrying about us not having enough players! Enough to keep a man up at night!!
===I would be willing to bet Hurrikane has a terrible case of w%rk!!===

Glen- If no one else cares I'l take AP or SA
Glen

Sure Mike, pick one or if we don't get enough people you can do both if you like.
Bernie

Any track left over is fine with me. I would appreciate a dirt route > 8f for the BC next week.

Bernie,
Would you like to become a full timer? Only $10 in winners is needed for breakeven. And breakeven is wonderful in this game. If you only have 2 or so spot plays, you can chalk it up on the rest of the card or just pick out a couple HTR conensus/PSCAN types. I figure the winning BBS might only have an ROI of 1.10 or 1.20 unless someone really hits a few huge bomb.

Glen--my email is shot but will take any track available--let me know here or on the selections board which one
Glen

Excellent! Canuck I sent you an email a few days ago. When you get your email up, let me know.
Ok This is what we have so far for Full Time participants.
AP Mike D
BEL MtKen
CRC Donnie
KEE Canuck (feel free to change, but I think you like Ev1 plays and it might be good there)
LAD Carl (ev1 hot there and it is cheap)
RET Glen
SA Bernie
WO
Everything look ok? Feel free to change if you all like.
Cliff and George have committed to be fill ins. If you all or anybody else not mentioned wants let me know if you want to go "acitve duty".
Bernie

BTW, IMO it's best in tournaments to fill in with live longshots when nothing jumps out at you. I'll be looking for ugly F1 or ESD>5 types in races where a good price can be had - e.g., large field size, turf, maiden, etc.
Donnie

Bernie,
Glad to see you took SA...I NEVER do well at the California tracks!!
Glen,
I will take CRC. Thought Carl would be doing WO in his backyard! Now let me see if I get this right...I can pick any 5 Sat races from CRC and we are posting our picks where?? Do we have a board here for that yet, or do you want them emailed to you Glen?
Doc Larry,
Glad to see you out there lurking!
Glen

Excellent....One more slot to be filled. If no one claims it then someone can double up on it. Was going to give WO to one of the Northern Territory folk but I know Carl is an Ev specialist and I think Canuck has taken that method up as well...Not sure. Well....WO has been horrible for EV over the short term...maybe what that means is that Ev will rule this weekend...I dunno...So fiigure the 2 Ev specialist take on the Top 2 Ev tracks (short term analysis). But I could be wrong.
===========================================
Rules From PA Board:
I received an e-mail from Jack300s from the DRF board that Hottalkers is on board for the contest. An open invitation exists to any other horse racing board to join our contest. However, if your board desires to be included, you must make your intentions known by Friday 10/19/2001 at the latest. An e-mail to me or a post on this forum should suffice.
The proposed contest rules are as follows:
1) The contest begins this weekend, 10/20/2001
2) The last day of the contest is 11/10/2001
3) Eight tracks will be selected each weekend to be the CONTEST TRACKS. Since PaceAdvantage won the last inter-board contest, we will select the tracks that will be played each week (they will most likely remain the same each week)
4) No more than 8 handicappers per board team, although each board is free to substitute handicappers on any given Saturday...as long as there are no more than 8 people per team
5) Each team will assign (or have each team member choose on their own) one of the eight racetracks per team member. In the cases where there are less than 8 handicappers per team, then more than 1 track may be assigned to any particular player.
6) Each player will choose 5 races from his or her assigned track. They are free to choose ANY 5 races on the card for their assigned track. SPECIAL NOTE: On Breeders' Cup day, instead of assigning 8 different racetracks among the teams players, each player on each team will tackle a particular BC race. Since there are 8 BC races, and 8 player team will distribute one BC race per team member. In the case of less than 8 players per team, some team members will have to handicap more than one BC race.
7) Each player is to pick 1 horse to win each of the 5 chosen races, along with TWO (2) alternate selections in the case of scratches. Alternates are to be listed in order of preference.
8) Each team is to have ALL of their selections posted by 12 NOON EASTERN TIME. HOWEVER, if there is a night track in the mix (as there will be this first week with RETAMA), then the night track's cutoff posting time will be decided each week. IN the cast of Retama, with a 7:45pm ET first post, then the cutoff for this track only will be 7:00pm EASTERN time
9) The winner of the contest will be the team with the HIGHEST ROI over the 4 week contest. Win % will also be tracked, and in the case of a tie in ROI, Win% will be the tiebreaker.
10) The official score will be posted in semi-real time on the home page of this website. Representatives from all the other participating boards are invited to print out the contest selections from each competing board shortly after 12:00pm Eastern Time on each Saturday in order to verify the official score on the homepage of this website. I would advise every participating board to make sure they have a central place for everyone to post their selections. This will make scorekeeping much easier.
That's all I can think of right now....I believe these rules duplicate the rules that were in place in last year's contest.
If anyone has any questions or comments, please post them here or by e-mail.
Thanks,
==PA

I'll do it this week, next week it's just BC races & you can have it the last week...unless H-Kane or Bulldog or someone pops up. OK?
