I have doubled the width of the new message box and the reply box.

What do you think?

Yesterday I doubled the width of the message entry box. For some of our messages with formatted columns we need the wider message box.

I am doing this message using a screen resolution of 800x600. I had to scroll the screen over to get the whole message entry box to display. I can tell I think 800x600 is too low a resolution for vBulletin. I don't even want to try to look at this in 640x480.

I have a 17" monitor running at 1024x768 and I can tell you that nobody should be running at 640x480 in Windows. Its OK for DOS.

Ken's next HTR upgrade is suppose to be in Windows. Hopefully by summer I can move up to a 19" monitor. Prices are way down. We'll have to wait and see how Ken handles the screen resolution issue in HTR. I would prefer to have the message entry box adjust to the user, but that wasn't built into html. I might figure out a work around in the future.

Donnie, any suggestions on an adjustable message box?

One thing I really liked about the old discussion group program was that it used the width of the screen for its message area. In vBulletin the message area shrinks as the left column takes up more screen width as you move from 1024x768 down to 800x600 and to 640x480.

Rick,
when I go to type a reply I have to scroll around the screen...or hit enter. Is there a way I can get around this. Everything shows up fine when I look at the post

Hurrikane,
What screen resolution are you using?

My guess would be that it is less than 800X600 because the message above yours was done at that resolution and the message box was about as wide as the screen.

The original message box was half the present size. What I will probably end up doing is making the message box 75% of its present size, which will put if between those that think it is too wide and those that think it is too narrow.

Until I find a way to adjust the message box according to screen resolution, everyone is not going to be happy. I try to fix all the things I find annoying and as much as I can that others find annoying, but sometimes we have to settle on an unhappy medium.

Hurrikane,
I adjusted the message box where it is about as wide as screen in 640x480. Unless you have something different you should not have much trouble with it. This is probably where they will stay until I find something to adjust them automatically.

Rick,
Thanks for the wallpaper request. Adds more character to the site. THanks again for all the hard work. The little goofy faces are fun too.
