A question from a friend: Anybody know what the Orleans stance is on laptops in the racebook?

Question from me: Do they even have a racebook (I don't remember seeing one) or do they just direct customers over to the GC?

What is the GC policy on laptops?

Bill,
I've been in both racebooks with my laptop and had no problems. Unless their policy has changed in the last few months it should all be ok.

Orleans has a large race book.

At the tournaments, they warn us about using the Internet, but never a problem or hassle with laptops.

But i don't know if that policy is the same in the racebook right now. They are very picky about cell phones in the race&sports area, so maybe they are tight on laptops there too.

Thanks guys, my buddy appreciates the input. I need to look around the Orleans a little bit more this year (rather than just go there to eat) :D.

all i know is that, after watching the Frontline report on tv last night - there are a lot more eyes on my activity in vegas than i had imagined. So much for "what happens in vegas stays in vegas".

Taxi Cabs recording your conversations and video of every taxi ride kind of tripped me out? Not to mention the still photos the cab takes of you when you enter

Wow!!!

I would say that the best racebooks for laptops are the Las Vegas Hilton, Ballys, and Red Rock. All the other Station casino's are anti-laptop. The worst has to be the Venetian, you'll get 5 security guard escort out of there.

Ones that I am not sure about are the RIO, Palms, Mirage, Caesars, Imperial Palace, Monte Carlo and New York/New York.

Anybody have any input on this subject?

You will have no problems using your laptops at these casino racebooks:

PALMS, PLANET HOLLYWOOD, WYNN, SOUTHPOINT, SUNSET STATION, BALLY'S, LAS VEGAS HILTON, RED ROCK, IMPERIAL PALACE.

About the Coast Casinos:
I just got off the phone with Randy Muniz the Director of Racing. She told me they have absolutely no problem with customers using their laptops in their racebooks or in their handicapping contests as long as they are not breaking the Nevada Gaming Control Rule by being on line.

The three Coast Casinos where you will have no problems using your laptops are: THE ORLEANS, GOLD COAST, & SUNCOAST.

Thanks, David

I suggested that my buddy check with the racebook manager when he got there and cleared his laptop proactively rather than trying to keep from getting kicked out by trying to explain after the fact. He should be OK (or, by now he's sitting out in the middle of Flamingo cussing me up and down the block :p)

Its been awhile (since January) but the last time I was at the Mirage, they had no problem with the laptop - they just came by to look to see if I had an "edge" card or something providing me with internet access.

I use mine @ Imperial Palace and the only "heat" I receive is the occasional security guard asking if I'm online.
There are electrical outlets along the very top row of the seating area.
I asked @ South Point in February and they said no problem.
