I don't know what to think, it's a great racing spectacle but you start off with 40 horses and only 13 finish, that not great.

Those riders are absolulute kamikazes.

I remember seeing this a couple years ago with the two biggest horse lovers I know (my X and daughter) and you would think I took them to a pet food processing plant. They were HORRIFIED and all the carnage. :eek:

Over the years it’s interesting to hear Tom Durkin’s calls of the jumps at Saratoga. Each year there are horrific falls and each year he has a harder time finishing the call of the race. It’s weird, I can go to a football game and cheer a vicious collision, but with animals I cringe with every injury.

BTW: My understanding is the riders are hurt MUCH more often in this event than the animals.
