I have a program in access 2003 called gambler844. I use it to do my handicapping.
Usually i export races into it. They may stay there for several days. That way i can handicap them when i have time. My problem is if i want to handicap todays races i have to delete them out so i can enter todays races. I dont want to do that, so I thought i would make two identical programs and use one for yesterdays races and one for todays.
I made a copy of gambler844 and called it gambler845. The problem is i have two linked tables into gambler. Trainer out and NHTR2. I went into my documents and made a copy of NHTR2 and called it NHTR3. I then went into gambler 845 and deleted out my to linked fields so I could link in the two new fields. When I go to link in NHTR3 i see in my documents as NHTR3, so I highlight it and hit link. NHTR3 doesnt get linked into gambler845, NHTR2 does. Why when I highlight NHTR3 and hit Linked it changes into NHTR2.
Thanks for any help

You would have to send me a database with the tables you are having trouble with. It would only need to have a few races in it. Do a repair before sending to remove all the deleted records.
That is unless I can easily import into the tables.
I have some other ideas too but would need to see what you are doing.

Eddie-
what might be easier for you would be to not delete files out, only periodicaly, and setting up a parameter in the query(s) you use for your reports. In your example....if you only want to see today's races, enter this EXACTLY in the criteria line under the DATE field in your query.....
[Which date would you like to use?]
Everytime you run the query (which I am assuming your report is based on, so you could say-- everytime you run your report) a box will come up asking you for what date you want, whether that is today's date or yesterday's date....doesn't matter. Much easier than trying to manage 6 tables!

I ran into some problems. When I entered EXACTLY in my date field that feeds my report gambler I go a message invalid something in the criteria field. So i took exactly out of there and was just going to put the date in.
I downloaded my races for today and they came up good in my report. Then I deleted the races out of HTR2 and HTR folder.
Then i downloaded sat races into HTR2 and did my export. I then did my trainer conversion. I didnt delete friday files from trainer because I still need them. When i tried to import the files into trainer I got an NULL 94 error. When the trainer Auto still has data in it can i import more data into it?
I have to go but will work on later.
Thanks for all the help

Make sure your trainer table is designed to have more than one set of data. It would probably need a date field for that to be so.
My guess would be its not. If its someones else design you are probably better off not messing with it.
If that is the case, then you are probably better off doing it the way you were trying to do it; make copies of the tables and rename them.

Donnie i use trainer automated that you gave me a long time ago, do you know if it has two data fields? The ones Rick mentioned. If not is there a trainer out table in diamonds I could use. If not, ill try to work on it by copying.
Sure appreciate all the help.
