Donnie........hope you made it back from RI in time to catch Race 9 PRM. An impact EDIF +12 with FR1 rank 1 paid $164 to win. Was a tie with another horse on rankings. Had not seen that until this week and have observed it four or five times recently. Played them both.
Looking hard at some tri's for there. Was great early in meet last year. With MNR, LS and PRM running we should all be happy longshot players.:)

Thanks JimG & MtKen,
Really made the post because Donnie loves his "home" track of PRM and I suspect he may have hit it also unless he was traveling. Was startled by JimG statement on larger than he had ever hit. Guess my 2 and half years with HTR have made me a bit blase'.
Actually is second largest I have ever hit but didn't give it a thought. Have hit so many $100+ wagers with HTR that they seem commonplace. They really are unusual, but once you hit a few you wonder why it can't be done more often.
Was prouder over a $59.80 at LS yesterday that took "logic". Also bet a lot more on it.
Enjoyed the Derby even tho I "misfigured" it. Like everybody had an exacta that failed by two inches. Hope you all had a great day!

Congrats George, great play!
Funny follow up on the #10 horse PRM 9th.
I was Going over the ROI figures on all the spot plays I track but don't play on Sunday, saw one that had a good April, reviewed it and marked it as a candidate for a move back to "real play". Figured I would check it out further on Monday after I loaded the first week of May in, review how it did there, then make a decision.
So I check the little bugger today and don't he have 2 wins out of 15 starts (sort of O.K). And with an ROI of 468%! Yeah, you guessed it, he did indeedy pick up the $164 horse at PRM.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry, so doing a bit of both. I had similiar happen a few months back when I "refined" a spot play to not include any horses with a class drop of two or more. Two days later, a horse hits at Laurel, $113. And yes the original play would have had it, until I "improved it". All comes with the territory, and to let you know that "yes, I too think it was a playable horse on HTR".

Carl........think we "think" too much. Every spot play I have ever "improved" has bit me.:)

Aw, thinking's fun. It's the "thinking about the thinking" that drives me crazy. Sure an easy game to zig when you should zag though.
And a bright spot on my day.
After I found out about the "ouch" $164 horse, I ran the play through today's card to see what it liked. It come up with
ATL r5 h4 which paid $20.20 ( a little revenge on the Jamaicans at least) and
GLD r4 h5 which I called in, I'll see how it does.
Amazing, sometimes things do sorta work out after all. I just think we horseplayers are such pessimists we tend to forget the lucky times. And for me, to put a spot play in and catch a winner an hour later that pays $20 is lucky for sure.....

Congrats, George!!
No, I was on the road and missed that one...got home last night after an excellent trip to RI and horseplaying was not the order of the day! I didn't get a chance to play PRM on Sat becasue of the "later" post-time. I did have the winner of the Derby on a win ticket, but naturally lost on my exacta stab.
A quick look thru the paper, I think I remember seeing that Shino is off to a good start again...so keep an eye on him, especially in the stakes races. He gets some good ones that don't look too impressive on paper, but he tends to bring 'em home!
Now it's time to start getting serious about PRM. My travels are over for a month!
I will let you guys know what I hear, if anything worthy!!
Good luck to all!

Nice shot George. I have been routinely early-wagering $10 (win) tokens on all the potential Fr1 bombs each day. My minimum is 10/1 ML to make the bet. I had no idea what happened at PRM that day - but when I checked my account balance later it was a $1000 higher for the day thanks mostly to that $164 gift horse in Iowa.
George is right when he says it is not unusual for HTR to hit $100 + winners. Typically, the horses will be 12/1 - 20/1 ML. We bet them at around 30/1 on the board. Then they drift up rapidly late to 50/1 or more. This happens because the chalk are being hammered in the late wagering. The $100+ is a nice surprise, and yet, as George alluded, not all that shocking. The $164 PRM was just 20/1 ML. We wouldn't be gloating on here if the odds had remained at that level.
There are many horseplayers that cannot psychologically bring themselves to wager on a horse at 30/1 or more. I am astonished at how many guys I have talked to over the years that have these feelings. This must be rooted in the staunch belief that the public is smarter than their computer program - imagine that.
My presentation on Friday night at the seminar is about this subject. Should be lively and informative. I'll explain why HTR' Fr1 can get these horses while other programs or methods cannot. George are you coming this year? Many, including me, would like to meet you.
Biggest mutuel ever? = over the years I have hit a few 99/1 shots. Two that I can remember at SA and one at FPX. Another was dq'd at HOL in 1984 Br Cup. The $200 winners are harder to find these days because field sizes have shrunk so much and any horse with the slighest clue of potential early speed will be bet under 100/1. There have been a few Fr1 $200 hits since we started this download service in 1995. Several years ago, an HTR customer quit horse racing forever because he decided not to call in a winning trifecta box that included a 99/1 TRN-1 winner at CRC ($45,000). His ship had finally come in - but he missed the boat.

Thanks Ken. Very informative post and should be a great seminar topic.
I have plane tickets and a room reserved and am really looking forward
to meeting everybody from HTR land.
Have talked to some on this board so long they seem like old friends, yet
have no idea who they really are and what they look like. Come on Vegas!!

Excellent points Ken. Think your right about computer being smarter than public. So many times I look at the Access spot plays and so on and figure they have no chance to win. When I try to handicap the race I always come up with different horses than the computer. It is when I go against the computer, I get burned...So best for me just to let it ride with computer picks. Come on Vegas, can't get here soon enough!!!
Love the little funny faces..
:( :o :D ;)
