Rick, today's news included a story about online theft of people who use their laptops in
wireless environments in motels, etc.

What security advice can you give us when we are at tournaments (or anytime) we are wireless?

Do your research.

I did google search for "hotspot wireless security" and this was the near the top of the list.

I can add one more small suggestion.

If you look at your Services, you will see one called Terminal Services. This should definitely be disabled when you are at a hotspot.

Tom,

The best thing you can do is not have or do anything worth stealing with your laptop. I keep all of my serious dealings (investment, creditcard purchases, banking etc.) on my home system and avoid doing anything like that on my laptop. One other major security threat with a laptop that is often overlooked is someone physically picking it up and stealing it. This would be just as desavtating (or devastating for those who prefer correct spelling :D ) as far as personal records go.
