My wife, Billie, and I drove over to Orlando last Tuesday to attend Don and Suzanne's wedding. And what a nice wedding it was. Low key, happy, and beautiful. The event overlooked a lake, with fluffy clouds turning gray and edges of red as the sun set. Don's two sons were the best man and ringbearer. The service was officiated by a woman who had been doing this for thirty years, and she didn't miss a beat. I became quite emotional as Don and Suzanne said their vows, very tender. A time of revisiting for me. The dress for the occasion was casual, and the particpants were gorgeous. Food was served and dancing was done. Don's family and Suzanne's family mixed and enjoyed each other. We wish them much happiness in their new adventure. I personally got a good deal out of the event. Suzanne's father, who lives in Rhode Island, offered me, since I live in Florida, a discount on a snow blower and a lifetime warranty.

Wes....very nice "word pictures" of the wedding. I have attended several weddings in Florida with the same type of setting and can really relate to how beautiful it can be.

Also want to wish Donnie and Suzanne much happiness together.

P.S. take her father up on the snowblower as I am retiring back to Indiana and could use a good lightly-used snowblower with a lifetime warranty.

Wes and George,

Thanks for the kind words. It was a most beautiful evening and I was very glad you and Billie attended, Wes. Who would think that I would choke up on the vows. The entire wedding went exactly the way we wanted. Very small and personable, even down to when my 6 yr old ringbearing son Sammy started to scratch the back of his head during the ceremony and Joy (the justice of the peace) finished scratching his head, while "never missing a beat". I don't know if you noticed...before the ceremony I had instructed Sammy to make sure I was given Sue's ring first, so he started holding mine in his right hand and her's in his left. In the middle of the ceremony he decided since the boxes looked alike he should "mark" one of them so he remembered when the big time came, which was which. I looked over at him and he's pressing his thunmbnail into the top of her box to make an indention, and then double checking to make sure he "marked" the right one.

Anyway, thanks for being a part of a most wonderful evening. In a way I look at it as you and Billie representing my HTR family! What a great family they are!'

Bless you!

Donnie

tomcat,
No, we just took my two boys to Disney World (first time for all of us except Sue) and we decided to get married while we were there. Her parents from RI flew down as did her brother's family and my mom. Her best friend flew in and Wes and Billie drove over. That was about the size of the ceremony.
We're staying put in Iowa until my boys are out of school, then we probably will relocate...

Hurrikane...thanks for the kind words! Will be looking forward to that drink in Vegas! :-)

That was a very touching piece of writing Wes - thank you for sharing your experience at Donnie's wedding with us.

We all raise our glasses with you and wish the Nadermann family a lifetime of happiness.

If I had to describe Donnie in one word - I think the one that comes to mind is "unselfish".

Hey Back, Donnie!

Thought I would reply here to your salutation and take this time to add my congratulations to you and the lovely, Suzanne on your nuptials. I wish you both every happiness.

It has been a fine meet at AP although it seems strange to be going there for live racing this late in the year. I'm accustomed to an AP with green trees, blue skies, hot sun and tanned legs. It's like, well, fall out there now. If you have not heard, AP asked for these dates (about a month later than usual on the calendar) so as to gain consideration as a host track for the Breeders Cup. According to news accounts nothing is final yet but, there has been much speculation that we will have the '02 BC.

In past seasons I would have shut down my play for the year following the BC. However, I have been getting into simulcasting of late, albeit on a very small scale, and I find myself wondering what took me so long. But, I know the answer. What took so long was finding HTR!

Thanks Tommy and Ken for the kind words!

Let's see...46 years...that pegs me near my 90's...ooowwff!!

Everyone one's been asking how we feel now that we're married...and both of us have to admit nothing's changed, and that's a good thing, cause things were going so well anyway! We are already "mapping" out our trip to Vegas this year!

I will post some pics here once I get them cleaned up...we went to Typhoon Lagoon the day of the wedding and all of us look like baked lobsters!! Wrong thing to do on your wedding day...but hey, it was fun!!

Good luck! And thanks again for the well wishes!!
