I just wanna say hello to the community. I've signed up to HTR during the last week after I had a positive ROI during the last trial period. Thereafter I was able to land some Exacta bombs which made me feel that switching from TSN to HTR was the right decision.

I came to HTR after I've read about it in the paceadvantage forum. Since I'm a computer freak and like to crunch numbers the robot feature of HTR made me smile. But reading the archived newsletters gave me much insight to the game than just looking at the numbers. I do hope that I will gain additional knowledge from reading and - later on - writing in the forum.

I still have to find my favourite view to look at a race. In the near future I will concentrate on the aspect of pace handicapping, so the maxvel application will be my favourite toy. The Brohammer book is already ordered...

I do finish my introduction as all newbies do: Asking a question:

In the maxvel application if you look at the v1 view in the upper half of the screen there's a column named nV. What's the meaning / concept of this?

It is nVEL.

Welcome GreenValley!!!

My goodness, word is spreading fast with HTR. :)

• Fire away with those questions!
• Print out those newsletters if it’s feasible.

• Like any great 15 course meal…savor and digest each course and by dessert you will be telling Kens latest customer all the ins and outs of the industry standard.

BTW: “nVEL” that Rick pointed out; Quick and dirty background.

That’s a rating that Ken and Tom Brohamer cooked up a while back and it’s a weighted velocity formula that works very well depended upon horse quality and early position.

In fact, let’s take that thought to another thread and check out this rating a little further.

welcome aboard, Green Valley! Isn't there a Green Valley Resort and Casino in Vegas? Or does your name come from the rolling, beautiful hills of Iowa?

(uh, in the summer!)

Welcome aboard Green Valley and feel free to post your thoughts here as the people are much friendlier with a lot less agenda than PA.

Now we need Ken to recruit some cute Freshman girls to go with the rest of the incoming class. ;-)

And seriously that is what you will probably find with the software. Some will struggle, others will do well at first. A few even drop out. As said before HTR is not for everybody. I would say the demographic is intelligent, curious, well mannered people. The kind who use to get the racing form the night before and mark it up with enough ink to make their pen dry.

I am looking forward to having so many great posts on this board that I cannot keep up reading them!

Jim
