Bought a copy of the new Windows Vista Operating System (Upgrade) at Costco and installed it on my son's computer, since his doesn't have any important files that could be lost. Took 4 hours on Pent4 machine to get the new OS finally installed. Sloooow process and better not interrupt it! It looks like a typical Windows update, a fresh coat of paint and some new bells and whistles. But a bunch of annoying security alerts.
I tried a RUN on our current DEMO full install. It loaded and installed very quickly as did getting the update HTR2.EXE 2007 version. No problems. Everything works normally, it was a little faster and visually more appealing. Downloading files seemed a bit quicker.
Rick has created a new Demo (full install) "light" that is for XP and Vista and contains the latest version of the HTR software. It should be available next week after we beta test it some more. If you get a new computer that has Vista installed - and it will if it is a 2007 or later sale - no worries, it will be a one step update to the latest HTR and seamless operation so far as i can tell.
There is a 64-bit version of Vista that can be updated via mail. The retail versions are 32 bit. I don't know if the 64-bit will run older Windows software, but have heard it will not and causes problems. But we heard that about the 32-bit Vista as well, and everything is fine.
