Make sure you are pointing the program to the directory your racefiles are located in.
I have noticed that several times when I first change folders I get a message like that and then the 2nd time I point to the same directory it opens.

Do the data files and the program reside in the same folder ?

My START IN in both my custom program and HTR2 are both c/htr. HTR2 works.
I tried getting into my custom program several times but i keep getting that message.
My custom program hasnt been changed in years.

When you open your custom program and get that message, click on the Change Folder icon. Make sure its on C:\htr and click OK.
Then click on the Enter icon.
If that don't work email your custom program to me and I will try it on my computer.
The thing is if it been working for two years it should still be working.

My desktop START IN is c\HTR. The program i sent you was in my temp folder and its start in was in c\temp. I download all my files to c\htr.
When you have time change the start in to c\htr and see if it works.
When i made a shortcut to my desktop i then changed my custom program to c\htr

Did you try double clicking on the file name instead of the icon?

Works for me just like the first copy you sent me.
I opened them both by double clicking on the file name.
I also created an icon for the first one. No problem.
I opened HTR2 first and then opened your program on the same set of files at the same time. Again no problem.

On my desktop i have htr2 and my custom program. When you say you click on the file name do you mean you go to the file the program is located in and click ont the program icon in there/ Maybe tommorrow when my head clears up i can try and figure out why it doesnt work or at least ask a question.
thanks rick

I open Windows Explorer and go to the directory the file is located in and double click on the file name.
If you have trouble opening it with the icon, delete the icon and go in and create a new icon. Right click on the file, highlight Send to and click on Desktop (create shortcut).

my 2005 custom program quit opening new files on 1/1/07......(will open 2006 files just fine)
remembering that Ken has had this problem on Jan 1 a couple of times in the past.
maybe he will respond after the contest. it has to do with some programming that requires a date......I remember that when it first happened he could only fix it for two more years.
Hope this is helpful...<e>

Yesterday I also got the “No Racefiles, etc” message, when I attempted to load Thursday’s files. A short while later, I downloaded Thursday’s files again. I then was able to load the files with no problem. Is it possible that something was missing from the files the first time I downloaded them? I checked the HTRDATA folder after the first aborted attempt to load and noted that there were files with Thursday’s date. Unfortunately I didn’t check to make sure that all elements were present.
I had no problem today with Friday’s files.

Ernie was correct, but it was Gambler, not me, that let it expire.....
Ed, you told me that you no longer used your custom version after one of the upgrades to HX4 or HX5. I deleted the code from my computer more than a year ago. My logs show the last update to your EDP program was May 7th, 2004: last log: "EDP INACTIVE application, DELETED in Dec 31, 2005" as part of a regular year end clean up on my hard drive.
If you want some custom export work done with the latest version of HTR, contact me in February. I don't think your special one had that many unique items in it as i recall. Most of them are now found in Hx4 and Hx5, no?
Thx Ernie and Ricks for your help.

Hi Ken
There must be some missunderstanding. You must of deleted my custom program sometime in 2007, as ive been using it. I only use the export function nothing else because there are about 25 field in my custom program that you dont offer any where else.
I didnt want my custom program updated each time you made change, i was content with it the way it was. Besides it would require a lot of work on your part to change it everytime you made changes in your other programs. By leaving it the way it was all i had to do was link my custom program to whatever you offered in HTR.
Is there any way you can put it back into your system? Once in it requires no maintenance.
If i ask you to make another custom program all i would want is those fields i export. Nothing else. Let me know what you want to do.
Thanks
ed

Ed, please send Rick $75 ; we worked hard to reconstruct your program on a Sunday
EDP Jan 21 is built on the current version of HTR2007 but your EDP/HX4 replaces regular HX4
it has all your custom fields, but some of the items from the old HX4
have been zeroed out that were leftover in your version, such as VBET and "good efforts" that
are no longer part of HTR at all.

Let me know when you receive my check.
I am looking at GP race 1 on 1/21/2007 and i have many fields with zeros in them. Some of the fields are NJKYST--NTRNST--NTRITM-NTRNW. When you get time could you please take a look at these fields. In all the races these fields are 0.
Thanks

I'll take a look, but sounds like you will need to make a complete list of fields that appear to not be correct and send it to km after his Vegas trip.
I'll get back to you after I check out the export.

I must be doing something wrong. I don't see the fields mentioned.
Where are the fields?

They are some of the special fields ken put in EDP for me. They are in EDP HX4.
If you cant find them in EDP let me know.

Are you importing into your old table?
Try importing into a new table.

I will try exporting into a new table. I need all those fields to do my handicapping in Access.
They were the special fields ken put in EDP for me.
Once again thanks for the held.
Rick

Make a list of the fields that are missing and check with km when he returns.
The version of your program that I was able to find a copy of may have been before those fields were added.
