I am trying to understand the following terms and how to use them. Is my understanding correct?
1. Class--This is the competition level a horse can compete at successfully.

2. Competition Level- Tell how tough the race was the horse ran in.

3. Average Competition Level--This is the average of the last three competition levels of a horse.

4. Average Class Level--This is the average of the last three class levels of a horse.

5. HTR Par--Is the class level of this race. You use it to see if a horse can run at this level.

6. Jockey Numbers--Are these numbers the same as the trainer numbers only they apply to the jockey?

7. K Mike D, POW, PRAT--These numbers are rating the performance of a horse in a race.

8. PER--Is the effort a horse put forth in a race. Similar to speed figure or cramer number.

Any help with understanding these would be appreciated.

G844,

I'll take a stab at a few of these...

1. Class--This is the competition level a horse can compete at successfully.

KM assigns a CLA ranking to each of the horseys. Something to do with how the horse performs in certain race levels (class). You may find horses that have a CLA number higher than PAR in certain turf races to be solid. Also sometimes you will see big class droppers who have huge CLA advantage over the field. Take your chances there...

2. Competition Level- Tell how tough the race was the horse ran in.

#2, #3 and #4 are the same=ACL. KM has secret formula for this. He posted it a while back on the old BBS. But in summary, it can give you ideas as to who has been racing in the more difficult races...A solid longshot angle...

3. Average Competition Level--This is the average of the last three
competition levels of a horse.

See Above

4. Average Class Level--This is the average of the last three class levels of a
horse.
See Above

5. HTR Par--Is the class level of this race. You use it to see if a horse can run
at this level.

Yes kinda...Par = Average Quirin Speed Fig (PER) of the winner. Important to understand that it is the Avg Speed fig of the winner only. Not Avg speed of the horses racing in the race...

6. Jockey Numbers--Are these numbers the same as the trainer numbers only
they apply to the jockey?

Yes, just like a slugging % for baseball players. Points awarded for 2nd and 3rd place showings as well as just wins...

7. K Mike D, POW, PRAT--These numbers are rating the performance of a
horse in a race.

MikeD uses something like 53% of the PSCAN rating and 47% of the POW rating. PRAT has nothing to do with MikeD number.

8. PER--Is the effort a horse put forth in a race. Similar to speed figure or
cramer number.

Yes, PER is the Quirin Speed figure that the horse earned in his last race. The figure can be found on PRAT1, HTR PP Screen <5>, and the ranking can be found on HTR Consensus.
