View Full Version : Win/Place POI report?

Can anyone help me set up a report that will give win and place results? (W/P/S would be OK too, if someone already has that). Also, how can I get my ROI report to come up always at a size of say 100 or 150% instead of having "FIT" in the size box, which requires an extra 2 mouse clicks to change every time. Thanks much.
In the archives I noticed that a wise person said that horse racing is simple - the rest of life is complex. Horses seem to have more sense than much of the world these days.... They give us their best and never cause anyone any trouble...

Bernie,
I e-mailed you a ROI Calculator Hurrikane sent me for place and show. I'ts under reports in the "Glen2" I sent you.
Don't know about the other stuff. Once a bunch of my data bases were opening small, some weren't, turned out some had an "autoexec" macro, some didn't. (I have no idea what that is, but when I put it into the db's opening small they stopped).

Thanks, Carl. I haven't received the email yet. Please try sending it again to aniruddhan@yahoo.com. I'm looking forward to using it. Thanks again.

Re-sent.
Neither bounced, Yahoo is sometimes a lot of laughs. It may show up late.
If it don't show up at all this time, it might be they don't like an access attachment.

Thanks, Carl. The W/P/S report is a delight to use. HOWEVER..... I found that the Show price data in Impact has quite a few errors in it that can inflate the show ROIs. Everyone using this expanded ROI report should do a search on nSHO >50, compare these prices to the place prices, and edit your Impact table appropriately (guess at some more appropriate substitute show payoffs).GIGO is alive and well.

Bernie,
I am not using Show prices for anything at the moment, so not an immediate concern.
However, I did run a >=50 nSHO query in my 50,000 race db (one year July 2000-June 2001) and only nine lines showed up.
Three of these were I think "bad", as one was 880, one was 230, one was 340. I think I could fix them by going back into the table and comparing them with the other two horses in those races who had a show price, as they must be the "right" price, as they did not show up in the query.
How many race lines do you have out of how many races that you feel are incorrect? Which races are they if there are not too many? Are the other two show prices in these races "right" as they were in mine? If so, no need for you to "guess" at a reasonable figure.

Carl,
I have less than 3 months of data in my baby db using about 80% of the available tracks, and I came up with 6 bad show prices (3 in the same race):
ELP 8/18 Race 9 (All 3 prices)
RET 8/17 Race 5
TDN 7/9 Race 5
DEL 7/1 Race5
ELP needed some guessing - the others have good show prices on the other horses.

Yes, this is obviously a bridge jumper. But I've chosen to adjust down the prices anyway in my db because I think they would distort my spot play backtesting. To me they seem to be data outliers that could do more harm than good representing repeatable events to be obtained from system spot play. Just a personal preference....
