Interesting that there were only 126 players at LaD & that $117 earned a qualifying spot. Details at

Also, after 9 days Kee finally has contest totals for the top 50 on its site, http://www.keeneland.com/simulcasting/contest.asp, although to be fair Les may have spent a number of days after the contest suffering from audioanalgesia. I know I was.

Methinks LaD would have liked to have had more entries, but, the published "takeout" was 50%. Looks like it ended up being a little less than that.

At one time (per Rafe) they were even going to deduct the "insurance policy" (approx $5500) should the winner go on to win the NHC and be eligible for the cool $ Million. Looks like they didn't, or, the winner opted out of that which I was told was doable.

Re the included races, the La-Bred quarter horse races were part of the contest, & my understanding is that all 3 qualifiers had the 43-1 quarter horse which won the 3.5f opener, Chicks Can Streak. They can alright, but unfortunately they don't much, at least not anymore.

They paid on 139 entries, took out 6k for NTRA/NHC qually's and 5.5K for Insurance on the Million Dollar deal.

The 43-1 Q Horse winner skewerd the tournament for all that only played T'Breds. No caps !

Case in point, there were only 2 T'Bred winners on the day that paid over 8-1, we had 'em both plus a $15 Place horse and finished only $12 from qualifying. Which means the qualifiers that hit that $90+ QHorse didn't do much after that. They must've played chalk after the hit and it worked for them this time...but just barely. :)
