Just found out about this after the fact (thought I had 2 winning Pick 4s after a scratch in the 2nd leg (6th race) at DMR, fav won).
For Pick 3's, and Pick 4's, if a horse is scratched in any leg, you will receive refunds on all combos with the scratched horse, no matter when the horse was scratched. You will not receive the track favorite or any consolation payouts, but instead a refund. This is an advantage for the player.
Advantage for WHO?? Not for the player this time!

Alan--
At YouBet it is the opposite. You get the posttime favorite. I also found out the hard way. The race in my Pick 4 that I played one horse against what I thought was a weak favorite, my horse scratched, and I was given the Fav. He tanked right along with all my Pick 4's.

Donnie,
I use YouBet also. Now I mostly use YouBet for Win, Exacta, etc bets that most likely won't involve an IRS form (aside from using their video feeds to watch the races). Have done well with the horse matchups on Pinnacle also.

Alan, trust me, you won't be sorry with that rule, in the long run it'll save you more than you would lose by not having a second winning ticket with the chalk. I prefer that rule that refunds the scratch and it has saved me hundreds of dollars - don't want the chalk when my horse scratches, want my money back instead. Why should we be forced to take a horse that i threw out in the first place? CA is going to offer the alternate selection again on the pickX i hear, that's the best plan.
Pinnacle is booking your p4, if they only get the results and scratches, then no parimutuel link to determine the actual favorite and adjust the payoff. It is also crapola when you hear these guys saying that "Pinnacle is putting all my bets into the tote" Nonsense. Very little of that is happening. Winning horseplayers have been asked to leave Pinnacle many times now and Pinnacle limits (now $25000 on major tracks, and much lower on others) are going down. Why would they need to do that if all the action is thrown in the tote?
The limit means you can't win more than $25000 at SAR or DMR on any single race. The limits are much lower on other tracks "B", "C" and "D" and have been getting stricter. Maybe they have been getting hit, but hope they don't recind the rebate.
In favor of YOUBET is the 10cent superfectas now being offered if the host has it. I hope they expand it to other wagers such as p4. I understand CA is thinking about making the pALL a 10center, that would be awesome and lot more people would jump in.

Today Pinnacle has a new announcement regarding NY tracks. Rebate reduced to 4%.
NYRA has pulled access to its pools from many betting hubs and offshore houses (any place that was customer friendly!). Pinnacle is probably booking all wagers from NY and paying that rebate on its own. Nevertheless....
The restrictions on Pinnacle continue to add up.
The blanket 7% rebate is now gone and it's probably all downhill from here. I had a feeling it was too good to last.

km,
It remains to be seen if the NYRA is acting in it's own best interest, I say no.

I have no doubt they're not acting in our interest, they're just stupid. They are acting in nobody's best interest. Duh.

Whatever, ehorse gives 3 and now Pinnacle gives 4, the rest is up to the individual player.

Couldn't find PHA at Ubet, and Brisbet won't accept us from Calif., Went to Pinnacle, and started to set up an account when I came onto this posting. Screw Pinnicale, and they don't handle PHA either -
Why doesn't anyone like PHA? (found a spot play for today in the 8th race at PHA but can't find a taker. Tsu-Tsu, #1 horse, for the record.

Pl;ease excuse the dumb post - I accidently punched up the wrong date and got PHA from Jan 4th. So PHA is alive and well - and I'm out to lunch. However, two of my newly hatched spot plays did pick the 8th at PHA on Jan 4th - paid $15.00 Couldn't place a bet but was gratified for the correct picks -

Lee, PHA doesn't run on Wed or Thurs - where did you get that spot play
I recall seeing them on Pinnacle and YouBet - check again Friday - unless they have pulled themselves out and want an exclusive for the Philly Park betting system. Yet I see PEN is available today on both. What about WinTicket?

Pinnacle carrys PHA at times-- but they never carry every track all the time, no one does. I have accounts all over the place because that's what it takes sometimes to get all the spot plays down. I create a hierarchy of books and especially pay attention not to make a play if possible on a bomb that has the potential to exceed a cap.

Ken,
PHA did run on Weds, Jan 4th. When I ran my spots yesterday, I had spot plays for the 4th of Jan up, and not the 8th of Feb - Obviously, I couldn't find PHA on Weds, Feb 8th - Just a dumb mistake. I have been tracking 3 spots since Jan 1st and decided to begin playing them yesterday.

For the What It's Worth department:
I use Pinnacle only. The take alot of tracks including Pha. When I was devising my spot plays, I only tested on the tracks that Pin takes. Going forward this has been a good move. I have no loyalty to Pinnacle or anywhere else, I will just go with the highest rebate. They only dropped from 7% to 4% on Bel, Sar, Aqu. My plays basically at least breakeven on their own, so my decision is to take 4% or 7%, I take both, thankyou.
