Victor is referring to the problems of accessing this board and how slow it is when you try to click various items to get into and read the bbs, I think I might have figured it out why.

We had another thread on here about how slow it was taking everyone and it is related to the same problem.

The answer. at least in my case, seems to be pop-up ad blocking. If I turn it off and try to access this site, the pop up ads come in like crazy, over and over and over, so many of them that it is impossible to actually access the board because I have to turn them off manually one after another. My pop up blocker (STOPZILLA on one, Norton on the other computer) has a lot of work to do when getting in here. I have similar problems with Pinnacle which is also infested with pop up ads and i can't get in there sometimes due to the delays while the pop up blocker tries to deal with it.

If I run the spyware/adware killer after accessing this site or Pinnacle (without blocking), I get dozens of infected files that have to be deleted daily.

Things might be a little better now.

Wyenet said the site had a super large log file. They started a new log file.

I have a bad feeling that the chat package is part of the problem. It was after adding the chat that we started having problems.

We have been running on Wyenet for quite a while now.

It does seem to be better now Rick. I had a feeling there was just too much crap to get through before this site could be displayed.

Looks like I have to tell them to clear the logs every 2 or 3 years. :D

Or when everyone starts complaining about the snail pace of the forum.

I ran CrapCleaner last night and today, this thing is going so fast I almost fell of my chair!

I don't really think it helped.

Just shut the forum down for over 2 hrs. Sure was slow re-indexing over 40,000 messages. I wonder how the boards with over a million messages handle it.

Of course I bet they are on dedicated servers.

But in my research I am finding even some of those on deciated servers are have a case of the slows.

I sent PA a message to see how he is getting such good speed out of his forum. They are much larger and have many more members on line at a time. Very snappy and quick. :D

That is what we need.

We may have to start charging everyone to get up to that speed.

Really want to stay away from that. Hard to get new members when they have to pay to see what its like.
