I do not have MS Access. Can I use some other program to acheive the same effect? I have dbase IV in DOS. My computer came with Star Office. If I must have MS Access, is there some way to get it for free?

The big plus for Access on this board is that most of the frequent data base posters use Access and we try and help ech other. If you use another product and you are not expert in its use and you have problems you are going to be on your own to figure out how to do it.

What Mike says is very true...If you go on and use something like Foxpro, your going to be stuck on an island by yourself if you need horseracing dB support. I don't know too many organizations providing tech support in that area...Made my decision to select Access that much easier...

Victor,
I use dbase for my DB. I can probably help you out. Just a warning that dbase does require programming skills. I had a bunch of stuff programmed in dbase and never switched to access. My suggestion would be unless you are REALLY familiar with dbase, I would bite the bullet and learn access.
