John,
The Windows version is not ready to replace the DOS programs just yet. Ken has not added any export function yet.
You will have to download the 'Full Install' and then download the latest HTR2001.exe to see how far Ken has gotten and to see if he has added anything that you might want to use. Some people really like his Advanced PP's.
Ken said he will have a new version out by the 8th. You might as well wait for that to see where its at.
It unzips faster, can handle at least 10 times as many races as the DOS version (most don't need any where near that amount of races in their working directory). But I can tell you from my test that having 40,000 races in one directory will take a while to open, about 2 minutes on my machine the first time, about half that the second time. That is in one session. If the second time is tomorrow it may take 2 minutes again. I will have to test that.
Part of the problem is that there is no year indicator in the file name of the racefiles. So what Ken is having to do is open each file to get the year, checking to see if results have been added, and checking to see if the chart is there also. All that takes time and Ken is still trying to make the process tale less time.
With HTR2001 you will be able to make a separate directory for each track if you like and easily switch from one to another.
Expect Ken to be adding new screens and features and then listening to the feedback from users, like yourself, to make changes.
You should be able to just read the discussion group and keep up with the new features as they are added.
