Just did a test on over 25k races for 2003. All races, any surface, etc. There were only 2300 races with purses of 10K+ or more. Is this correct? Didn't realize that only 9% of all races are 10K+ purses. Thought it was alot more. (after going to Santa Anita for so many years). Might bring new emphasis on looking at the smaller tracks. Or at least races at 5K+.
K1
All Races = 30 %wins
Below 10K = 29.6 % wins
10K+ = 32. % wins (slightly more ROI)
K110 & 10K+ = 43 % wins= 0.90 ROI

Paladin;
My tests always show between 60% - 70% of all races in North America have a purse of $10,000 or more.
Also, there were at least 50,000 recognized thoroughbred races run in 2003. County Fairs, Hunt meets, Bush tracks, Mixed breed meets and many rural locations are not included in the 'recognized' list but we post all the data files anyway (some we never get results for) and that will fatten the total of races. Certainly there were more than 25,000 races with a purse of $10k or more run in 2003. So something is amiss with that sample if you downloaded "ALL" each day during 2003.
Either you have a lot of minor tracks in your db (not likely) or there was another filter in play when you ran the test. But your stats outcome looks right on the money in terms of % and ROI - matching similar larger samples tests I have run on the K-rating.

ERROR- Reran the test and got 20K races that were 10k+. It came out to 79% of the total races in the db. That figures since I don't do alot of the smaller tracks. -Whew
And the K1-K2 (for the 10Kraces) came out to Exactly the same % as the total db.
K1-30%
K2-20%
K110-38%-0.87 ROI
You were right Ken, I must have had a filter in place, wonder what it was.
