Don H. thanks for that post. The TomCat and I contributed several interesting pages in the upcoming August newsletter about the "bridge jumpers" - those huge show bettors that put it all on a sure thing to collect an 'easy' $2.10 (5% profit). They are the source of a lifetime of profits from a system I will show you.
But that Monmouth race on Saturday (7th) is unusual because they normally cancel show wagering when the field is cut to four. The plunger evidently thought ML favorite Katz Me was a mortal lock to finish 3rd in a four horse field and proabably bet $50,000 to $100,000 to show. The show pool was so imbalanced when the horse ran 4th that the others paid boxcars.
If you find a newspaper or Internet article on this - would appreciate if you could post it here or print the link if it is on-line.
The guy that made that bet is looking for a place to jump right now.

I doubt you will see any writeup on this. Tracks don't generally advertise a big bet. Once in a while in a stakes race they'll say it created a minus pool for show.
It is kind of funny with 4 horses and show betting.

Thoroughbred Times has some coverage on their site. Tom DeMartini reports:
"Monmouth officials believe the bettor placed the wagers in $10,000 increments on-track but will not be certain until Monday"
