DRF/NTRA NATIONAL HANDICAPPING CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS

For the first time, Suffolk Downs will be giving horseplayers three opportunities to qualify for the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in 2004. The East Boston oval will host three tournaments, with the winner of each earning a spot in the National Championship to be held in Las Vegas in January of 2005.

The format for all three tournaments will be the same. Players will be required to make a mythical $20 win-place bet on one horse (or entry) in a total of ten pre-selected races. Three of the races will be from the live card at Suffolk Downs, while the other seven will be from other tracks. Players must submit ALL bets prior to the start of the first race of the tournament. For this reason, there is NO CAP on prices. The player that amasses the largest mythical bankroll wins.

In addition to the berth in the National Championship for the tournament winners, cash prizes will be awarded to the top ten finishers. All money received in entry fees will be returned to players.

The entry fee will vary from tournament to tournament. Players will only be allowed one entry in each tournament and entries will be limited to 300. The entry fee for each tournament will include lunch, a Daily Racing Form and a simulcast program.

The contest dates are:

Saturday, June 12 (Suf, Bel, Mth, Hol) - $25 entry fee
Saturday, August 7 (Suf, Sar, Mth, Dmr) - $100 entry fee
Saturday, November 27 (Suf, Aqu, Crc, CD, Hol) - $50 entry fee
