The (K) is as hot as you will ever see it in NY right now. K 1 and 2 winning 70% on the dirt at AQU. Strong ROI for win and place K1. Early speed a big plus. Will streak continue with switch to inner-dirt next month though.
There is a 4-ball qualifier at AQU this Sat/Sun. A bomb will happen - have to be on it or go home empty handed. Players get 10 bullets, must bet 5 of them at AQU. Only other track is CD. One $40 bet, 9 $20 bets. Can pile up points on K-1,2 but it won't overcome the inevitable $42 winner (cap). A good contest, several HTR users have qualified from this one over the years.
KEE contest next month is the best value opportunity, with 7 qualifiers, low entry fee ($90) and good rules, it is a no brainer for those of you in the area. Same rules as the tourney during the seminar last summer. All the HTR players did great and Bob Ramos qualified. Experience counts. Shoot for a 15/1 in every race, you won't win if you don't hit a bomb.
TUP is mid-December is the end of the road for a realistic shot at Ballys.
Handicapping Expo set for Feb at Paris hotel, blurb is on the DRF site, some new blood to join the old ones, which is good, but again DRF blacks out on the following as if they didn't exist =
"computer"
"Internet"
"high-tech"
"database"
"research"
"software"
These Expos don't draw huge crowds, but they make money selling the tapes later. My choices would be to hear Lauren Stitch and Alan Shubak, as they are fresh and interesting. Also the 'panel' of Ross Gallo, Mike Labriola and Noel Michaels on tournaments would be very good, but too bad they didn't invite a computer-based tourney regular such as Joe Hinson or one of our Dallas players to participate. They have both Jerry Brown and Len Friedman on a panel for speed figures, that could be interesting as there is bad blood between the Rag sheets and T'graph - throw in Beyer and it is a cat fight. But the lack of Jim Cramer in that group leaves it a bit dry as he is the premier researcher on speed figures in the world.
One item in the ad says "Make your own pace figures [manually], and profit from them"
Wish I'd thought of that ;)
