View Full Version : Glitch? (old htr dos version)

On Sunday, 7-16-01 I downloaded my usual array of tracks and printed the TLC stats as well as the HTR velocity screen for them.

They all printed out perfect except for Fort Erie and Woodbine.

Both of those tracks printouts gave me the wrong conditions and distances for the races, plus they provided me with win, exacta and trifecta results that came from who knows where.

The rest of the figures where correct for the days races.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Ron, my FE and WO files look ok, but that doesn't mean anything as I don't have the original entries or race conditions to compare. If the problem is real after a 2nd download, please email me some specifics and I'll check on it with the software and maybe relay it to HDW/Equibase. We have enough reasons for losing, don't need scrambled data as another excuse. Things like this have happened before and are usually the result of Equibase quality control errors, not the software. HDW catches 99% of the bugs that come from the source (Equibase), but a few slip through. When a Results file is late getting up, it is usually because HDW has found a data problem and we have to await the correction.

The Results files are also vulnerable to data transmission errors during download. Because they are a text file, a small glitch will not prevent HTR from processing the results into the race and bizaare errors have occured for individual users. Best bet is to download all the affected files again and see what happens. The Racefiles are not vulnerable to download blips because they are in binary format and a single byte out of place would be enough for HTR to recognize file corruption and not load the race.

I saw Carol at the track - she said she enjoyed the seminar and is keeping in touch with you - that is super, she is one of those rare gals that really knows her handicapping and enjoys it. At our satellite betting dump, Los Alamitos racetrack, Carol and Ben are regulars and it is often like a 'Cheers' hangout with them and other interesting characters there.

Ken;

Thanks for the specs. on how these things can happen.

If I encounter another instance, I'll forward the files for your review.

(On a side note,.....I recently had a dream that I was in a race book where they were accepting bets on the previous days races that I had all the results on:))
Must have been one of those late night chili dogs:)

Say hello to Carol and Ben for me.
Wait till they see your windows version of HTR. It's bound to improve some of there positive figures even more.
