could you tell me if you'll have HTR data out earlier than Friday for the B.C.? Any possibility of getting it on Wednesday night or Thursday?

Thursday morning is your best bet for the Br Cup (SA Oct 25 card) data. Although I do remember getting it late on Wed night in the past.

They draw the entries on Wednesday with all the fanfare. The MLO is assigned along with an official program from Santa Anita with other races on the card. That all gets to Equibase in the afternoon and they send us the data a few hours later. HDW then packages the data for for HTR and adds it to our download facility. Everyone involved is aware that we want those files asap!

Wide open event this year - price plays will be plentiful.

There seems to be a lot of talk here about the SA surface. It is interesting that they are complaining and haven't even got there yet.
The complaint seems to be the surface is too hard, which has led to the SA track superintendent to reply today that the surface is not too hard. Several trainers have declined to even go. Of those shipping out, I hear they are doing all their workouts here then shipping late. Of course, Funny Cide has always done this. Tempest in a Teapot? Or should we just bet Western horses in California?

Its possible they are right. The weather has been unusually hot and dry here for October and that can contribute to hard surface. But I have not noticed a blazing speed bias or anything recently. Watch the track on Wed-Thu-Fri and see what happens as they prepare the surface for the big day.

AZERI is out of the Distaff. Now SIGHTSEEK will be the heavy chalk in a small field.

The other races are wide open, with dozens of longshot possibilities.

Ken, the problem seems to be the hardness of the track. You may want to watch. Tracks historically like fast surfaces for the big races, and early speed on big days is not unusual. But, because of all the complaining, might SA start watering the track down?

Hey guys, how about a $5 Win on Assmuson, Frankle, Pat Day and Jerry Bailey? Might be up to $100 veture. I think there will be a few winners, but will I finish ahead?
I keep thinking these people are shipping horses on a long, expensive and difficult trip. For nothing?
