We have a new permanent IP address to start using immediately. The OLD IP address (http://65.214.103.232/) will cease to exists starting next week around April 1.
The new one is ---> http://htr.horsedata.com
Much easier address to remember and it is permanent and will not change again.
Rick has already changed the "MEMBERS" link from the homepage here to point to this new IP address and it is working fine. You may be prompted to submit your password. I should be getting a listing from HDW soon, will send to Rick also and we can help you if you have been using the Auto-login for so long that you forgot your password!
If you have any problems or questions with getting your files, contact Rick or myself immediately.

For anyone who forgot their password try the old link
http://65.214.103.232/
your computer should remember your password for it but has no idea about the new link.
Of course the old link is suppose to stop working around the 1st of April.

I'll get you those files in Vegas come hell or high water 'Kane - or my reputation won't be worth 2-cents. My rep is only worth 3-cents now and I don't want it degraded any further!
Netscape browser does seem to have more issues than IE with our download page. If you have both browsers available, use Internet Explorer for accessing the HTR files site.
We have contigency plans in place in case everything were to crash. HDW could email Rick the next-day files and he could post them on here. Or I could get them directly from HDW via email to pass out on diskette in Vegas if all else fails.

Ron told me the new Netscape doesn't work as well as the old one. I'm still using 4.5. I can't get downloads with anything later than that.

Hi,
The issue with Netscape 6+ is not that it doesn't work as well as others. Netscape 6+ is a fine browser but the applet we use to power the download cart doesn't work with the sun virtual machine, which is what Netscape 6+ uses. Netscape Communicators 4.x do work however. When I get a breather, I am going to be checking on some alternatives that may (or may not) work with the sun machine.
The new web site is a complete duplicate of the old - no difference in the content or web pages whatsoever. The only differences are that the address is with a new ISP, Bell South, and we have created and used the name htr.horsedata.com rather than numbers. This ensures that if we move or change ISPs again, htr.horsedata.com will still work fine and nobody will be inconvenienced.
If any of you have a Favorites link set to the download site, make sure to add it again to your Favorites. Just overwrite the old one if it prompts you.
Ken - your reputation is solid gold; the worst that could happen is downgrade to silver.

Ken or Rick, The new IP address loaded on mine this morning, however when I checked all tracks the download got hung up, I then downloaded 1 track at a time, but when I tried to download Lrl & Pen, in the download process I got the message they already existed, but they are not there. Any ideas??? By the way Good Luck to everyone in the tourney.
Thnx, Shadow

Shadow,
If it gives you the option to overwrite just click yes.
Another option to try is to download to a different directory/subdirectory. After you get them just move them to your htr directory.

ron,
maybe you can help me. when I use IE it prompts me for a user name and password to log onto your server when I try to run the applet. This is after the normal login.
Now, since for some reason you haven't given me admin rights to log on to your server(gee, I can't imagine why) I can't use IE to download.
I've tried updating and downloading a different vm but no success. That is why I am using netscape in the first place. Can't get IE to work.
Ken, I never doubted you would get the files at the contest. After all, I think they still lynch people in Nevada. And you know how angry those crazy Mex's can get. Not to mention how 'string em up' happy those Texans can be. :D

Hurricane,
If you are getting a login prompt when you try to run the applet, using IE, you are probably using the sun virtual machine on IE.
Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll down the options. About half way, there should be an entry "Microsoft VM" and a subentry "JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled". This should be checked.
Look to see if there is an entry "Java (Sun)"; it is usually right above the "Microsoft VM" entry.
If it is there and checked, your browser will use the Sun VM, regardless of whether the Microsoft VM is checked. Try unchecking ithe Java (Sun) and restrating your browser. If there is no Java(Sun) entry, I have no explanation. I can only recreate this behavior by installing the Sun VM.

I swore by netscape for the first three years it was in existence. But I wouldn't touch it today. If I wanted to use a Netscape compatible browser, I'd probably use Mozilla, which uses the same engine but is a little faster. There are just too many other good browsers that don't bog down like Netscape does: Internet Explorer, Netcaptor (which enhances IE), CrazyBrowser (ditto), Opera, etc.

Midnight.
I have never used a different (nets-crap or ie) browser. Which one do you recommend?
