Ken sends:
The TLC "June 26, 2001" version has the following new items and/or changes.
1) middle section is ranked by "MikeD" number as it is an excellent contender selector.
2) iTR (Impact trainer rating) appears in the bottom section replacing the CR4, a * flags the top rank.
3) An P! or E! or F! will appear in the top and bottom sections RS column when a horse has a considerable Fr1 advantage over the field (4 lengths or more). The horse with the "!" will always be #1 ranked Fr1 and the advantage will usually, but not always, be apparent in the Impact Esp column as well. The "!" is rare, but it should be as few horses have such a large advantage in the first fraction.
btw: even the TomCat forgot this: the ( ) surrounding the Qpoints indicate a horse that was positioned 3, 2 or 1 at the first call in his most recent start. Tom apparently had a system for this one at one time at KEE and won some money with it.
Thanks to John Buckley for his timely advice with this update.
IF you prefer the old version, then rename this one TCL2 or something.

Fancy sig Donnie...Feel like I'm back in Vegas now!
Honestly, I think this new TLC is a very very good program...2nd only to Impact but it will allow us to be much more versatile with it. Especially when used in conjunction w/ PP. Great ideas Tomcat and John Buckley.

Hi Guys,
Be sure to toggle back and forth between pl1 and pl5 as fr1(!) sometimes changes dramatically as if you look at Delaware's 4th today. Also in working with Ken on this on occasion the (!) does not show up on the top screen, but has always shown up at bottom screen. Minor glitch that rarely occurs. Good luck.........JB

Hi Glen
The wife and I are going to the Flamingo Reno for that tournament and get some of Tommy's money from him. Then if I make enough, maybe Orleans. Otherwise just the daily grind with winticket...........JB

I asked Ken about this and he said the the impact on the TLC is pace line dependant (ie you can change it from PL1 to PL5 and the impact # would change) where the impact program is not.

"The championship at the Orleans"
From a full page ad (DRF6/28/01) "For information call" 1-888-566-7223 or fax them @702-365-7422 .......no web site listed in this ad
Contest will be August 15-18,2001........you need to have your entry in by 7-25-2001 to be eligible for the early bird contest............Looks like the top 60 will win from $500-up to-$132k for first place based on 800 entrants.
While on the subject of tournaments.........I just returned from a very positive weekend spent at the Reno Hilton where they held a "live money" event. This was the first time I have ever been around a "big" handicapping contest (did not enter this one, next year ???)In this contest you used your real money entry fee to make your bets and got to keep your winnings..........the reason for writing about it here is that of the 90 people in the contest who made bets totaling $300 per day.............(all forms of betting were excepted except p-4 and p-6)
The top four winners were WIN ONLY BETTERS............infact it was reported that as a gruop the win betters showed a 9% flat bet profit for the entire tournament, while those playing exotic wagers showed a flat bet loss of -26%...........and with a deep chuckle the host reported that to his suprise there was one show better in the top 30 finishers.
Must admit that I may have come away with tournament fever...........but $600 to bet in the show pool.......I've got more to learn before that..........

Ernie,
Thanks for Orleans info...Is the entry fee still $500? or is it $1000? That is funny about the Reno win betters doing much better than exotic folk. Good for them...

Glen: The ad said $500 entry fee in one box and list the aprox prize payouts 1-61st place, then on the other side of the page it talks about the "EARLY BIRD" contest and what they will pay........I don't see any mention of any fee other than the first $500...........
list tentative tracks as DMR-SAR-CRC-AP-LRL-LAD.....
