Mid-month update to HTR2001; "Feb 15, 2003" version; Rick will post asap.

1) changed PL-4 by popular demand (re thread here "Average Pace - Paceline Selection" - 'sheets guy')

2) fixes the bug that Donnie uncovered regarding a horse that finished far back, lame, pulled- up, eased, etc. This has always been a tricky problem with these PP lines. On one hand it is easiest to just decimate the line for a horse that has no speed figure or final BL. But sometimes the pace ratings are revealing and that is were it gets tricky. Now you will see "99" for BL at the calls and finish when the horse has been pulled up and the PER rating will be blank. But if the horse has a legit pace rating, it will show up properly. Example: assume a horse with the following pp line is entered today at 6f =

8.5D ..... 1-hd 2-nk 5-15 10-99 ... 103-xxx eased

the "xxx" for the PER would show as blank. This horse ran a route last time and dueled a strong 6f before falling to pieces. That Pace rating of 103 might be as good as the other sprinters PER ratings in today's race. So rather than blank the line and not reveal the pace figure, it was necessary to use "99" to fill in the rest of the BL.

3) fixed other little problems with display items

There will be another upgrade in early March.

Ken,

Noticed something with the new PL4. It does not take surface into account. GP 6 today scheduled for the turf. Looks like the program went out of its way to pick dirt lines. Is this supposed to happen?

I just downloed the updated version on here and placed in separate directory.
Ran GP-6 Sunday and clicked to PL-4. It chose only Turf lines and ignored all Dirt.

The PL-4 is 100% surface sensitive. If you click the SCRATCH button and switch to Wet Track, then it will choose wet and fast dirt lines. Otherwise it will only choose turf or fast dirt respectively

Are you sure you have the right PL mode or the correct software version (Feb 15)?

Hi Tom,

I just tested it in the htr tester and not in access so I don't know the results. MikeD might be able to test if for you.
