Right after the seminar I took the family to Arizona. Went to Laughlin, Lake Havasui and the Grand Canyon and a few ghost towns. While driving through the desert of Arizona at 118 degrees, decided to take a detour to famous Yavapai racetrack. Recently renamed from the former PRE "Prescott Downs", the track is the Yavapai County Fairgrounds located near the city of Prescott. The fairgrounds were remodeled and look nice, not too many serious horse bettors, but the place is fun and the atmosphere is uniquely Southwest.

Seminar was a major success for all involved. The Stardust was very happy with the turnout and 'buzz' created by our group (that means revenue in the casino and racebook must have gone up while we were there!). We are invited again for our 7th year next June. Hopefully we'll choose a weekend that is after Fathers Day and after the NBA finals.

Huge thanks from me to our excellent presenters TomCat, MikeD and Donnie; much appreciation to helpers Pam, Linda, Ernie, MikeM and TommyC; and to everyone that attended ---> thank you for a stimulating and fun weekend talking horses and high-tech handicapping.

Over the years we have evolved the annual event to include something for everyone. Some use the HTR seminar as their excuse to get away for a weekend in Vegas and party with old friends. Thats cool. Others come to seriously learn and update their handicapping knowledge and gain new insights. Most of us get a good mix and have fun while we learn a bit more than we knew before. One thing that never fails to impress first time seminar attendees is what a great bunch of people their fellow HTR members are. There is instant rapport among our group, and even though most of us only see each other once a year, there is the feeling that we have been friends for life.

I have decided to use the July edition of the HTR newsletter as the vehicle for a detailed review of the seminar and include my handouts and all the information presented. I'll include a summary of Tom, Don and Mike's presentations and look forward to Don's update of his Access/HTR Export manual for this web site.

HTR for Windows beta-test continues and I will submit an installation download for Rick to post on this site asap. There will be additional information in the newsletter. Installation into most laptops was successful in Vegas, if you have the initial setup, you only need to update the small HTR2001.EXE file each upgrade. Currently the program has some interesting functionality but not a lot of handicapping material, but new additions are being added until the program includes all the current screens and applications in DOS - including TLC and HTR4MSA and PRAT and IMPACT etc. Note: downloading and installing the Windows version of HTR has no effect on the current DOS versions - they will function normally as always.

Welcome back from a well deserved vacation Ken. As always, your efforts and organization to put together the HTR reunion is much appreciated.
