I've checked all the old newsletters and help file couldn't find (or missed) descriptions for the following variables. QT3, nvel, and GL8. Could someone please tell me what they represent? I'm also curious as to whether the fps figures are adjusted for track variant or other factors or are they the raw numbers? Thanks--although I used HTR for a few months two years ago, I'm pretty much a newbie.

GO,

Let me take a swing:

QT3: Is the total of the top 3 Quirin point horses. Example you have a 8QP, and two 7QP horses, your QT3 is 23.

nVEL: is a very strong pace formula created by KM for the original Modern Pace Handicapping software program. In summary, it is a consensus of all the pace factors: Fr1, Fr2, Fr3, EP, SP, LP, FX, AP.

GL8: is somewhere in the newsletters, perhaps about 6 months back. It is the number of times a horse has run a good effort out of the last 8. ie close at 2nd call, or stretch call or finish.

FPS: Yes are very adjusted and very accurate track to track.

Thanks for the quick reply. I assume that nvel is scaled so that the higher the number the better? I had assumed that the fps were adjusted. I have seen a trend in a few places (I think RSPos Past Performances--at least as I can tell by the way it is presented in their sample material) and one highly marketed computer program to not use adjusted figs. I am familiar with the problems of creating variants--but imo, not to do so is crazy.
