'kane,

I noticed on the PA board that you use the scratch list off of the TSN site.

Have you done any research to see if there's much correlation between scratch(es) and future performance?

Have you found a way to import that scratch info into your Access DB?

Thanks for any input,
CH

I know the question is for 'Kane, but I don't know if everyone knows that data put into table format on the internet can be saved back into a program like Access or Excel and can then be imported and used in access. Go into excel and choose Data at the top, then new web query. Make sure you coose Information Just in Tables to screen everything else out. Then the scratch data can be added to any database!

Thanks Donnie,

Didn't know that. I will see if I can get it to work. Seems it might be difficult to make the data "match up" to a particular horse. Plus, it looked like there sometimes more than one recent scratch listed for a horse.

With our Access tables having one date with one horse, etc., wouldn't two scratch dates mess things up?

If you create a new table that you place the scratch information into, you would have to add a couple fields to make them "unique" records. Considering that you should have the horse's name and the date he was scratched, you may want to enter data of the race he was scratched out of...ppo, race no, track, date....then this new table could be added to another with today's info from HTR.
This would have to be two stand alone table, that you would not do any daily querying off of, but would allow you to look back to see if any of today's entries had been scratched recently and why.

you got it Donnie. This data is a pain in the a** to work with. I have had some success. You may find it helpful. I am building(rebuilding) my trainer db and trying to add this in to see how much it helps.
What I would really like is owner info if someone knows a source.....

Over the summer I wanted to do the same thing for PRM...insert the owner information..."follow the money". Never did find a good source that is free or easy for that matter! Let me know if you have better luck...would like to run it next year for the local track!
