Congrats to MTKEN (Ken B) and LURKING BETTOR (Cliff H) for making it to the final round of our FPX Showdown. Last Friday, we started with about 30 players, but just two remain for the winner-take-all prize of $150.

I had predicted this one would go only 6 days. FPX is a 'high-volatility' track, to say the least!
But our two survivors are now into their 7th day. 100% of their final selections have finished 3rd or better and that is very impressive at a wide-open bullring like FPX.

Thanks to everyone that gave it shot, hope you had some fun with it. These 'Showvivor' events are not exactly hardcore handicapping fare, but are certainly entertaining.

Unfortunately this contest had the wind taken out of it by the death of George. He and Janet were excited and getting ready to play the contest when George passed away unexpectedly last week. Very heartbreaking.

Our next contest is open to all and will take place on Breeders Cup day. We'll have details in October.

Maybe we should have it every year and call it the Memorial.

George was a great guy and would be happy to see these two on top.

Believe they part of the original K*** crew.

Good luck guys!

I certainly enjoyed the contest and even made it to the final five. I'm just hoping that last horse I picked didn't hurt himself too much scraping the outside rail at the first turn<g>.

Good luck to those that are left. I think the memorial idea is a good one for future contests.

Looking forward to the Breeders Cup contest. As good as the players are here, I think NTRA should sponser it and the first four go to the big dance in Vegas. I know that won't happen but you will not find a better group in any contest.

Yeah, you guys are some handicapping fools. Like KM said, there is some crazy stuff that happens on those turns.

MTKEN has won the FPX Showdown. Outstanding effort Montana man!

Check my post in the FPX Tournament forum.

Took 7-days for 1 guy to out-survive the other 30.

The "George Bloomfield Memorial HTR Tournament" will go on next summer for sure. In honor of our old friend who really enjoyed himself to the end while competing against the best from HTR. He didn't win, but he played with fervor, did very well, and was a good sport as always. After it was over he was looking forward to reviewing everything and improving himself for the next one. We'll miss him very much.

Thanks KM & my thanks to George for the many ideas (esp. K1s) he served up on lo-priced horses.
