View Full Version : My Best Bet.

That part's easy, BEL r5 h10 wire job on the soft BEL turf. Yeah, I know, but at least IF it wins it'll pay good. It got selected by a wack (i.e. five) different spot plays.

The other thing is that may be a fun set of posts for a month or so. I like reading about other's BEST BETS. So for a contest maybe....
1) People could post their "BEST BET OF THE DAY", and reasons if they want. And how they feel is the best way to bet it. Sometimes a race comes up that you can "see" real good. Would like to see people post these.
2) We would keep track of our own ROI, $24 bet total a day seems good. Should allow for enough flexibility.
3) Anybody that has any thoughts on someone else's BEST BET could of course post them too.
4) Most money ahead at the end of the month wins. Go tri's!

What I like about this is that maybe we would all learn something? I like reading about how you guys handicap and use HTR. This would give people a chance to "play to their strengths" also. Sorta like "real life" betting.

Whatta you think?

Like the idea. Trouble is, have 20 "sure things" for today, can't tell which might be my "best".
Before you laugh, hit 11 of my 12 "sure things" yesterday. All chalk, but 60% return on chalk.

One I think may be best of the best today is WISE BLUES #5 in CD Race 8. Real world would bet it over and under all in an exacta. Would bet bigger exacta's on lower odds horses in lineup.

If we were doing your proposal would start with a $24 place wager.

Why do I like this horse? A top trainer, class drop, good K rating, jockey rides 21% winners on this runstyle/post with an IV of 1.72 for rs/post.

hmmm..this sounds interesting. Are you charged with the 24 bucks every day..use it or loose it..or just when and how much you bet and is there a minimum amount to bet for the contest and last but not least..the duration? so many questions
will have to start handicapping spot plays now..that could be eyeopening.

I love this; George has a K1 in a race where I have a longshot.

Geez Hurrikane, those are the sorts of questions they now want me to answer at W-O-R-K. Mike's right, no good comes of it, this W-O-R-K business AND it is contagious. Now I see it EVERYWHERE....

I just was interested in how people come up with their PLAY OF THE DAY. I got the $24 dollar amount from Glen, seemed O.K. 'cause you can do some exacta/tri/pick 3 type stuff with 24 one dollar bets.

If you have any suggestions about the rest or any of it, I am for them. I always just bet win, don't matter to me (guess if I had a great bet in the 5th and a great bet in the 7th, I might be tempted to stretch a pick 3). I just though how people found "BEST BETS" was interesting (if indeed people did find "best bets". I do, but that is just because the computer picks them multiple times.)

It's cool Carl. Not trying to make a bunch of rules. If fact I really dislike rules. However..one rule I think we need it to ban that darn W-O-R-K work from the site...unless of course your talking about horses

Yeah, probably O.K. to use the word in a sentance like "This works at a track" or "this horse had a good work."

Don't think that type of usage should make anybody sick.

Well, I have Carls turf on a spot play but I'll let him bank that one..I'll just hit him real time. Good luck.

Thought about taking up with George and Ken as I had the same race and delima k1 and longshot.
But alas..I found my own bit of trouble.

MNR(the official HTR longshot track) race 7

Have a few spot plays at this track today but this one pairs a K1*** with a +5ESD #1 Res. Both at reasonable odds. Besurprised if they stay that way.

Ok my best play today is EVD r#4 Prg no 5.

this is a edif 32, no 1 pow with a ML of 10-1. Lay of 8 in a large field. Should have no trouble getting to the front. Maybe the trainer thinks she is in good form and wants to get another pay day out of her right away, finished 4th in last. I'll be surprised if she does not get bet down.

lets do a $1 tri and key the 5 in the 1 and 2 hole with the 1-3-6-10 for $24

MtKen......the trainer of your horse # 7 was so terrified of # 5 he scratched your horse:)

They also scratched the only one I thought might beat the 5, which was # 1 with Jon Court up.

May have to see if I can lift a BIG hammer.

Thanks for the heads up, George. I couldn't get the Philly Phone Bet odds board to work earlier so I've just been doing scratches as they come off Winticket.

I'm sure that #7 was just off its oats this morning & will pay boxcars next time;)

I hate to 'borrow' a horse on the 1st day but Mike Dee's #5 in the 4th @ EVD is what sticks out for me too.....$24 on the nose, gate to wire.

I almost took the 6 in BM's 6th but the trainer is 0/10 with the horse & 6% with the jock.

water water everywhere. I'm so tired of wet sloppy tracks. Is it ever going to stop raining in the east and midwest?

George

Let it rain, let it rain!! I LOVE sloppy tracks.

REALLY, REALLY love rain in West Virginia.
