First of all congratulations to the contest
participants...I was not one as I am trying to
perfect my handicapping which is as far from
perfect as I can get. lol... I would like some feedback from ace hdcpers as to how they made their winning selections. That would be a huge help to hear the different techniques used in making selections. We can all stand to learn from
winning selectors if they don't mind sharing their knowledge....I am new to this board and would appreciate you letting us peek into your mind in making some selections. I am very interested in
tournaments as I am now retired and would like to
make some headway in that area....I have been lurking trying to pick up info and now I have a
legit question I am coming out of the weeds..

Thanks very much -----have a nice day !!!!!

Stuball,

I'm no expert but preparation is real important. Good to know what types of horses or factors are winning at that track. ie RS, Early or late speed, jocks, trainers, post position, and so on. Also making a list of horses you are going to potentially play the night before is important vs just "winging it" when you get there. With multiple tracks involved (4 to 6) trying to handicap and watching tote odds during the event is almost a template for failure.
Best of luck.

Stuball:

Read the HTR newsletters, especially the one's on finding longshots.

If you have lots of time go through all the back posts here where there is also lots of excellent advice.

If you are a db person you might log all the $20+ winners at your tracks & try to determine what they have in common with each other. KM says this is how he & Ernie came up with F1 as the prime longshot indicator.

The other thing you can do is analyze how the winners made their picks in the HTR contest or any other contest you can get picks for.

Good luck,

Ken

In this forum it is easy to reverse engineer(handicap) ....all the selections are posted. make a list , copy, send them to yourself via email............then look at the races ask your self what did he see here that I should be looking at ? Win or lose what did "glen" do those two weekends that I didn't /wouldn't have done
