Speed biased DIRT tracks and Trakus are not exactly a perfect fit. But any progress in this area is much appreciated.

Of course, the only way this is relevant/usable is if they go the WO route and Trakus data is incorporated into the EQUIBASE results charts (with comments from the chartmaker). If they go the KEE/DMR route then the better data is not worth the time/effort it takes to get it into a usable format.

P.S.

All the DRF/BEYERITE Trakus hating idiots over at DT are probably going to have a field day with this one.

Trakus takes the guess work out of timing and makes for accurate figures, what you do with them is another story. At least everyone is starting with a true number.Don't understand why you feel a sppeed biased track or any other kind of track would be a deterent.

Don't believe I have seen any comment on the fact that AP is going to institute a sliding scale on purses based on the number of entries in a race and resulting scratches. In my opinion a simple long overdue improvement in the hopes of stopping some of the "game playing that exists.

I don't see the AP change as something positive. I think there will be the appearance of even more game playing taking place with Kirby and Reavis multiple uncoupled entries etc trying to boost the purse. Racing is in bad shape in the Land of Lincoln.

Well it should cut down on expenses some as now there will be no need to open the track for works in the AM.

There is a correlation between the number of entries in a race and the amount wagered by the betting public. More entries more money bet. It also gives the bettor a chance of higher payoffs.Stagnation in racing does not work in a world that makes the last I PAD obselete about every 6 months. There was much negativity about lower betting units such as 10 cent supers .50 cent Tris and pick 4's etc. These changes are working for the good. The people most responsible for the state of racing are the ones who still think and act like they are living in the 1950's.Unfortunatey the old business models simply don't work any more and haven't worked in the last 30 or 40 years.

Exactly!

MVM generously posted a P4 pool spreadsheet a while back and as I recall; on average there was nothing but growth from tracks that went to the .50 cent option.

We have confused our industry’s important history and traditions with the modern realities of on line betting and reduced attention spans. I can't think of many enterprises that would realize so little from the leverage on line wagering 'should' give racing.
