Below are the rules and selection posting methods for the HTR handicapping tournament.

Contest runs two weekends Jan 11-12; Jan 18-19
All tracks eligible - win bets only.

20 plays per weekend per entry.
You can select horses on Sat or Sun or both, but use 20 for the each weekend maximum.
40 plays total for the entire contest.
(You can submit more than 20 plays to cover any scratches. Plays will be counted in the order
they are submitted.)

Bet a mythical $2 win on each selection.
Two prizes
1) Highest bankroll: highest total of winning selections at the end wins.
Cap on win mutuel of $50.
Prize = 50% of contest fees received + free month on HTR

2) 'Winners contest: Each entrant starts with 0 points.
1pt for winners picked < $10, 2pt for each winner >= $10. Highest point total wins.
Prize = 50% of contest fees received + free month on HTR

A single entry could win both prizes as all entries are eligible for both simultaneously.
Minor prizes will be awarded to the runners up.

Posting the picks:
1) Rick will assign a thread for your contest entry name such as "Ken1" and "Ken2" in the 'Tournament' forum.
Enter your selections on your private thread throughout the racing day, at least 5 minutes prior to post time.
Past -posting will be impossible because Rick will be monitoring the selection board and the race times (and you can be sure all the other entrants will be checking too).

2) Email all your picks to Rick at contest@homebased2.com
Must submit all picks for the day by 12noon ET on the day of the races you are playing.
Rick will then paste your selections to your thread on the bbs.
Add 2 or 3 alternates in order of preference if you wish, in case of scratches to your main selections.

Submission of picks - please follow the protocol below which will help Rick to enter your data into a db for processing and fast posting of results each day. This avoids a hand tally of the results which takes forever.

<entrant id>, <date>, <track>, <race#>, <program # of horse to bet>

example: ken1, 01/14, AQU, 3, 11
ken1 is betting horse # 11 in the 3rd at AQU on Jan 14

Be sure to put the commas between the data items.
Perfection is not required, if you make a mistake, no big deal, as long as we can tell who is betting what.

thanks and good luck !

question on the rules and the procedure.

Is there any limit on the number of runners that one picks in a race?

What if we want to change a selectioin prior to the 5 min deadline. Do we just edit the selection?

What if a selection is scratched after the 5 min mark do we lose that pick or can we make a pick in a future race for the scratched runner?

You can pick more than one horse in a race if you so desire.

Editing is going to be turned off for the contest. You can change a selection before the 5 min mark by posting another message to your thread. Be very clear in stating what you are changing from and what you are changing to.

If your selection is scratched, it doesn't count as a selection.

Basically your selections will count in the order they are submitted. If your 5th pick is scrathced you can either let your 21st pick replace it or post a message stating that your 5th pick was scratched and you want to replace it with this selection.

Just be clear in saying what you are doing; I need to understand what you are doing when and if you make changes.

Rick, tried to email you but the board says I can't.
I just mailed 1 entry for the contest. Sent it to the po box on the home page.

KM/Rick:

How will entries be treated? If you take the entry do you get both or do you have to designate?

Thanks
